The Twenty Ninth of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty and One, I James Countiss of Queen Anne County in the Province of Maryland Planter being very sick and weak in body, but of perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be given unto God therefore Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body, and that it is appointed for all Men once to Dye Do make & Ordain this my Last Will and Testament That is to Say principally and first of all, I give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it, and for my body I recommend it to ye Earth to be buried in a Christian like and Decent Manner at the Discretion of my Executors &c &c nothing doubting but at the Generall Resurrection I Shall Receive the Same again by the mighty Power of God. And as Touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give and dispose of ye Same in the following Manner and form. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Son Peter Countiss my new dwelling plantatn being part of a Tract of Land Called Recsom Planes, and to ye Value of two Shills in ye Moveables. Item. I Bequeath & give unto Rebekah Vanderford the Value Twenty Shillings. I give & bequeath unto my Sons James & William Countiss a Tract of Land Called Dublin Lying in T. County between the head of Choptank River and the Land Called Old Town beginning at a red Oak Marked with Twelve Notches viz. four and four Opposite and Two and Two opposite and Stands by the East Side of the Road that leads from Bagges Containing 300 Acres to be Equally Divided between James & William, I Likewise give and bequeath unto my Son James Countiss a Hand Melt and Two Pewter Dishes - And likewise to William a Horse Colt and Two Pewter Dishes. I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Catharine Rachel, Hannah and Sarah Countiss ye remaining part of what is left to be equally Divided amongst them Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Wife my new Dwelling Plantation During her Life whom I Likewise make & Ordain to be my Sole Executrix in this my Last Will and Testament.
