I Phillip Addams of Somerset County in the province of Maryland Planter being in perfect mind and memory thanks be to almighty God for it and calling to mind the uncertainty of this present life and willing to settle my affairs here on Earth and as for my worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I bestow as followith (viz) Imprimis I leave unto my well beloved wife Ellis Addams during her natural life att the northermost end of my land as far as to a pine stump that standeth in the side of the dam on the southermost side of my dwelling house and from thence to the mouth of a ditch and a long with the ditch that goeth a long the side of my orchard as far as to my back ditch and thence with the same coarse a cross my tract of land with Housen and orchards and all priveledge thereunto belonging and also my negro man named Dick and my negro man named Nan and my negro garl named Patience and also two horses one named Punch and the other named Dragon and my hand mill and also one feather bed and furniture and one plow and Housen Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Roda Beauchamp to she and heirs for ever after my wife Ellis Addams decease all the northermost end of my land as far as to a pine stump that standeth in the side of the dam on the southermost side of my dwelling house and from thence to the mouth of a ditch and and a long with the ditch that goeth a long the side of my orchard as far as to my back ditch and thence with the same coarse a cross my tract of land with Housen and orchard and all priviledge thereunto belonging and also I leave unto my daughter Roda Beauchamp after my wife’s death my negro woman named Nan and after my daughter Rodays death I give and bequeath the above said negro woman named Nan unto my grand daughter Tabitha Beauchamp to she and her heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Matthews my negro garl named Patience and my negro child named Abram after my wifes decease to she and her heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Tabitha Addams to she and her heirs for ever after my wifes decease my negro man named Dick and my hand mill and one horse named Dragon. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Addams one feather bed and furniture and one negro man named Jack and one horse named Punch after my wifes decease to she and her heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my grand son David Addams son of Hope Addams all my tract of land lying back of young Beauchamp Davis containing twenty one acres to him and his heirs and assignees for ever. I give and bequeath unto my son in law William Addams and my grand son Phillip Addams son of Thomas Addams and my grand son Jesse Addams and grand son Phillip Addams and my grand son Hope Addams sons of Hope Addams all my right and title of my march which is in Condesqua March containing twenty five acres to be equally divided between and amongst them to them and their heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Phillip Addams son of William Addams one ewe and lamb to him and his heirs. Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Phillip Beauchamp one ewe and lamb to him and his heirs. Item I give and bequeath unto my son in law Thomas Addams one shillings sterling money. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Grace Marshall one shilling sterling money. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Ellis Addams one third part of my moveable estate within doars and without doars to be at her own disposing. Item after my lawfull depts and legasies being paid I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my estate to be equally divided between and amongst my four daughters that is to say Elisabeth Matthews, Mary Marchal, Sarah Addams and Tabitha Addams to them and their heirs for ever. Item I do hereby nominate constitute appoint and ordain my son in law William Addams to be my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke disalow and disanul of any former wills and testaments before made by me ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness where or I hereunto set my hand and seal have affixt the day and year above written. Addams seal mark On the 30th day of June 1772 came Purnal Outten and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true and will and testament of Phillip Addams late of Somerset County deceased that hath came to his hands possession or knowledge and that he did not know or ever heard of any other. Sworn before Thos Holbrook Depy Comy of Som County on the thirtyeth day of June one thousand seven hundred and seventy two cam Purnell Outeen, Beauchamp Davis and Jacob Addams the three subscribing witnesses and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that they did see the testator Phillip Addams sign and seal the afore going will and heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament and at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their aprehanssions of a sound disposion of mind memory and understanding and that they subscribed their names as witnesses to the said will in the presense of the same testator.
