All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Becky Miller milchoice@yahoo.com January 19, 2009, 8:05 pm Source: Somerset Wills Eb5 Microfilm Written: May 29, 1692 Recorded: July 3, 1695 In the name of God Amen I Elenor Caine of Somerset County in the Province of Maryland widow being now in good health and Memory blessed be god but Considering the frailty of this life I make this my Last will & Testamt in Manner and form following, My soul I render to god that gave it hoping for its Salvation Through the Mercy of my Creator and Merrits of my redeemer Jesus Christ my body I render to the Earth from whence it was Taken to be decently buryed as my Executor hereafter Named Shall think fitt for what worldly Estate it hath pleased god to give me I give and bequeath as followeth all my Land I give and bequeath to my son Lazurus Maddux and to his heirs for Ever all My wearing Apperell both of Linen and woolen I give and bequeath to my causin Blandina Bosman all the remainder of my Estate & goods and chattles I give and bequeath unto my son Lazurus Maddux to Injoy the same during his Natural Life, after his decease to goe to the children of his body to be Equally divided between them and I do hereby Nominate and Appoint my son Lazurus Maddux to be the Executor of this my last will & Testament In Testimony that it is my real will Act and deed I have put to my hand and Seal in the presents of Witnesses before Whom I have published and declard that this is my Last will and Testament the 29th day of May Anno: Dom 1692 Signed Sealed & Published & Declared In Presence of us - Charles Hall Sen~. her Marsey Fountain ELLen Cain {Seald} Charles Hall Jun~. Came personably [sic] before me Mr. Marsey Fountain & Charles Hall Jun~. & made Oath that they saw the above named Elioner Caine Sign & seal this her Last will & Testament and also that they saw Charles Hall Senr. & John Turpin sett too their hands as Witnesses to the said Will. & Witness my hand__ Sam.ll Hopkins D. Com. To all Christian People before whom these Presents shall or may come Blandina Bosman Sendeth greeting & whereas My Aunt Eliener Cain did by her Last Will & testament give and Bequeath unto me the said Blandina, Two Gowns and 2 peticoats 3 Shifts and other head linen etc. being all her the said Ellenors wearing clothes both Linen & Woolens, Now Know y.e that I the said Blandina Bosman do by these presents Acknowledge to have rec.d of Lazurus Maddux, Execut.r of the Last Will & Testament of the said Elenor Cain all & Singular the s.d Legacy of cloathing both Linen & Woolen And do of the Same & of & from every part & parcell thereof freely fully really and Absolutely acquit exonerate release And Discharge him the said Lazurus Maddux forever as Witness my hand and Seal this 13th day of July- In the Seventh year of their Majesties Reighn Annoq. W.S.C Additional Comments: Eleanor was the daughter of Lewis and Catherine White of Northampton County, VA. She married 1) Alexander Maddux (d. 1660); 2) William Bozman (d. 1664); 3) James Caine. Her death of 17 Nov 1694 is recorded in IKL. Eleanor had one known child by Alexander Maddux, viz: Lazarus Maddux (c1656-1716). The cousin Blandina Bosman mentioned in the will is her niece via her sister Mary and her stepdaughter-in-law via William Bozman's son John.
