Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament this Twenty Eight Day of September 1760. First, I give and bequeath unto my Dearly Beloved son Francis Lane Godard a part of the Tract of Land called Days Beginning containing two hundred and ninety acres of land lying and being in Somerset County in the province of Maryland on the Branches of Broad Creek to be divided by a due South Line from the Southernmost end of a Ditch cut from the Branch and halfway through the Plantation to him and his heirs for Ever. Also I give and bequeath the other half of the said two hundred ninety Acres of Land unto my beloved son George Goddard if he shall see fit to live on it and if not, then I leave the said part of Land before mentioned to the said George Goddard, I leave it to my wife Sarah Godard during her Life and at her decease to be my youngest Daughter, Sarah Goddard's Land to her and her heirs Lawfully begotten of her forever. Also, I give and bequeath to my Grandson, John Godard eight pounds current money to be taken out of my Estate, it being the full of his Portion out of my Estate. Also, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Godard all my moveable and Personable Estate during her life and at her disposal as she pleases. Also, I appoint my wife Sarah Godard my only and Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th of Sept 1760. Signed Sealed Published and Pronounced by the ___ John Godard as his Last Will and Testament in Presence of us William Robison, John Robertson and John Williams. John (his mark) Godard On the Twenty Eight Day of October one thousand seven hundred and sixty five came Sarah Goddard Executrix of John Goddard and made oath on the holy Evangelis of Almighty God that the within Instrument of writing is the True and only Will and Testament of John Godard late of Somerset County, deceased, that hath come to her hand possession or knowledge, and that she does not know or ever heard of any other. Sworn before Thos. Holbrook Deputy ____ ____. On the twenty Eight Day of October One thousand seven hundred and sixty five came William Robinson, John Robertson and John Williams the three subscribing witnesses and made oath on the holy Evangelis of Almighty God that they did see the Testator John Godard sign and seal the aforegoing and heard him Publish Pronounce and Declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of each of their apprehensions of a sound Disposing mind memory and understanding that they they subscribed their names as witnesses to the said will in the presents of the said Testator, sowrn before Thos.
