The Rev. Mr. Rhees our Baptist Minister Preached for us today in the Court House. He intends to continue with us as our Pastor. Monday, January 2 Most of today has been pleasant but it rained all night & a little this morning. Josiah & I worked from 9 this morning on Mr. Bolinger’s Stable. Eve we went to the sing. Tuesday, January 3 The weather continues about the same. Wet of nights and pleasant in the day time. Josiah & I working allone now. Dorsey is still quite sick. Sallie is well. Eve at Home. Wednesday, January 4 Weather has been quite pleasant today. We are getting along quite well with Mr. Bolinger’s House. I settled up with Mr. Brophy for a House we built for him used for a shooting gallery. Thursday, January 5 Weather very disagreeable. We worked untill noon. Afternoon I was busy fixing around at Home and estimating on an addition to the City Library Room. Sallie is well. Dorsey is Better. Friday, January 6 It rained all day. We did not work. The teamsters worked all day. Eve we went to the sing at the M. E. C. We are all well. Saturday, January 7 Weather more pleasant today. We worked all day on Mr. Bolinger’s House. We are getting along with it very well. Mr. Williams called on us this eve. We are all well. Sunday, January 8 Cloudy and wet all day. Morning we had preaching at the Court House. Text Hosea 6th chapter & part of the 3rd verse. Then shall we know if we follow on to know the Lord. Monday, January 9 Weather pleasant but a little cool. Josiah & I worked all day. Worked in the morning at Mr. Bolinger’s & went a jobbing in the afternoon. Evening Sallie & I went to the sing. Tuesday, January 10 It froze a little last night & was quite cool this morning but we went to work about 7 o’clock. About noon it was quite peasant. Evening I went to the City Counsel. Wednesday, January 11 The weather continues about the same cold nights & mornings. Josiah & I are still working at Mr. Bolinger’s. He is building a very fine House. We are all well. Thursday, January 12 Weather continues about the same. We are still working at the same place. Evening at the same place. We are all well. Friday, January 13 The weather continues the same. We have a great many calls for brick this winter but we haven’t them. What we do sell we get $12 per thousand. Evening we went to a serprize party at the Baptist Minister’s. Saturday, January 14 Weather continues about the same. We are still working at the same place. Evening Sallie, I, Mrs. Williams & Miss Carry Green went to Mr. Strong’s to a sing. Sunday, January 15 Weather very pleasant. Sallie went with me to the Baptist Church morning & evening. At 12 o’clock I went to the M. E. Sabbath School. We are all well. Monday, January 16 The weather continues very pleasant excepting the nights & mornings which are quite cool. We worked all day at the Bolinger’s. Tuesday, January 17 Weather continues about the same. We worked all day in the same place. Evening I went to the Masonic Lodge. We are all well. Wednesday, January 18 This morning was quite foggy but the most of the day was quite pleasant. We worked all day in the same place. Evening we called to see Miss Green. We are all well. Thursday, January 19 Weather continues good but this morning was quite cool & windy. We worked all day at Mr. Bolinger’s. I let the cleaning down of the church to B. F. Shakespear at $100.00 Friday, January 20 Weather continues very pleasant. We finished up the first story of the B. House. Evening Sallie & I went to the sing. We are all well. Saturday, January 21 Weather continues very pleasant. We are putting up Mr. B yard wall today. We are all well. Sunday, January 22 Weather cloudy. Morning Sallie & I went to the Baptist Church & after services I went to the M. E. S. S. We have no S. S. yet in the Baptist Church. Monday, January 23 A little cloudy this morning but it turned out to be a very fine day. We worked part of today at the Church. Eve we went to the sing. Tuesday, January 24 Weather pleasant. We went back to Mr. Bolinger’s this morning. We are getting through with our work very fast. We are all well. Wednesday, January 25 Weather very pleasant. We worked all day at Mr. B’s House. At night we repaired a rainge at the Merchant’s Hotel. Sallie is very well. Thursday, January 26 Weather pleasant but it was quite cool this morning. We did not get to work this morning untill 9 on account of being up most all night last night. Friday, January 27 The weather continues about the same. We worked all day on Mr. B’s House. We are all very well. Saturday, January 28 Today has been quite cool & windy. We are getting along quite well with Mr. Bolinger’s House. Evening Sallie & I went to a sing at Mr. McHannon’s. Sunday, January 29 Weather very pleasant. Sallie was with me morning & evening at the Court House. In the afternoon we had a church meeting at the same place at 3. I joined by letter. Monday, January 30 Weather continues very pleasant. We worked all day at Mr. B’s House. Evening we went to the singing society. We are all well. Tuesday, January 31 The weather continues very fine. We are getting along very well with Mr. B. House. We will finish it in about 2 days more. We are all well. Wednesday, February 1 The weather continues very pleasant. We are still working in the same place. Evening I went to the Fire Company. We are all well. Thursday, February 2 33 Weeks Weather continues very pleasant. We worked all day at the Church building a Back House &co, &co. We are all well. Friday, February 3 Weather very pleasant. We worked part of today at the Church and part at Mr. B’s We will soon be [--] in bouth places. Eve we took a walk. Saturday, February 4 Today has been quite windy. We finished up our contract at the church. We heared from Andrew Slicer this evening. He is well and still in S. F. We are all well. Sunday, February 5 Weather very pleasant. In the morning Sarah & I went to the M. E. C. We did not go to church in the evening. At home all the evening. Monday, February 6 Weather continues very pleasant. We are still working on Mr. Bolinger’s house. Evening Sarah & I went to the sing. We are all well. Tuesday, February 7 Weather continues about the same. I settled up with Mr. Sherman this eve for Board up to last Saturday & pased Rec. Sarah spent the afternoon out with Miss C. Green. Wednesday, February 8 Weather continues very pleasant. We finished the Brickwork of Mr. B’s today. We have about 40 thousand bricks on hand yet. Sallie is out this afternoon. Thursday, February 9 Weather continues very pleasant. Mr. G. Blass(?) the Carpenters of Mr. Bolinger’s House helped me to measure the Brickwark of Mr. B’s House. We make a little over 209 thousand. Friday, February 10 Weather continues about the same. We are getting the yard ready besides some other little jobing. We are doing about while we are not doing much. Josiah is getting ready to go home. We are all well. Saturday, February 11 The weather continues about the same. We worked on the yard part of today. Afternoon I collected $1000.00 on the church. Sallie is well. Sunday, February 12 Weather very pleasant today. We had Baptist preaching all day at the Court House. Sallie went with me in the evening. We have very good attendance. Monday, February 13 Morning cloudy afternoon raining. We have been trying to settle with some of our old accounts today. Josiah is getting ready to leave here for Home on Wednesday next. We are all well. Tuesday, February 14 Weather pleasant but it rained quite hard this eve. I Paid M. Santry(?) the full amount of the three notes he held against me ( $500 ) We are not at work now. Wednesday, February 15 The weather but a little cloudy. I went about 7 Miles in the country today to get a place to [--] our Horses. I found a place with Mr. Sherfield at $1.50 per month a piece. All well Thursday, February 16 Weather very pleasant. Josiah started this morning for home. I took the two horses out on the ranch this afternoon and had to walk back. We are all well. Friday, February 17 Weather a little windy & cool. I worked all day for Judge Bliss. I loaned Josiah’s $800 today to Mr. Eckkell at 1 per cent per month. We are all well. Saturday, February 18 Part of the day was quite pleasant the wind blew a little this eve. I worked all day for the Judge. He renewed the note I held against him. Sunday, February 19 Weather very pleasant. Sallie & I went to the Baptist Church in the evening but we did not go in the morning or to S. School. Monday, February 20 Weather pleasant but a little windy part of the morning. I worked at Judge Bliss & at the graveyard in the afternoon at the jail. Evening went to the sing. Tuesday, February 21 Today has been quite cool & windy. The big Livery Stable on D St. all burnt down last night with 2 or 3 other houses. I finished at the jail this morning and did a little job for Mr. Coor. Wednesday, February 22 Weather continues very pleasant. I finished at Mr. Coor’s this afternoon. I was trying to make a traid for some work at the burnt stable. We are all well. Thursday, February 23 Weather quite cool today. I made arraingments today to build me a house by the side of my House on the corner of 5th and F St. I traided my 2 lots for the Carpenters work. We are all well. Friday, February 24 Weather very pleasant. I got some work to do today at the Burnt Stable for Mr. Eckart. It is a pretty dirty job but it will pay well. We are all well. Saturday, February 25 Weather very pleasant. I worked all day at the Burnt Stable Building. [--] with the old brick. We went to Mr. Barns to sing. Sunday, February 26 Quite windy part of the day. Sallie went with me morning & evening to church Baptist. At 3 in the afternoon we had a covenent meeting. Monday, February 27 Weather very pleasant today. We worked all day in the Stable. I could get 2 or 3 Houses to build now if we had the brick. Evening we went to the sing. Tuesday, February 28 Weather continues about the same. We worked all day at the stable. Great excitement now about the Washoe mines. Wednesday, February 29 Weather cloudy but very little rain. We worked about the stable most all day. I got a job to do today for Messers Wood & George. Thursday, March 1 It rained quite hard last night & part of today. We halled sand & brick at Wood & George’s stable today. I settled up with McDonald today on the $400.00 note. Worked a little about the stable. Friday, March 2 The weather a little cloudy & windy. I worked most of the day about the stable. I bought a load of Hay today had to pay $90.00 per Tonn. Sallie is quite unwell today. Saturday, March 3 Weather pleasant. We did not do much today on account of the job on Maiden Lane not being ready. I got another little job to do today for Eckart. Sallie is still unwell. Sunday, March 4 Weather cloudy and a little windy. The Rev. Mr. Shuck of Sacramento Preached for us today. The Lord’s Supper was administered after the sermon. Monday, March 5 Weather cloudy and thretening rain & did quite hard this afternoon. We finished Eckart’s job at noon & in the afternoon we commenced Wood & George’s job on Maiden Lane. Tuesday, March 6 Weather quite changeable rained a little & blew a little & the sun shown out a little but we managed to work all day. Sallie is quite bad with her cold yet. Wednesday, March 7 Weather pleasant. We worked all day in Messers Wood and Georges stable or carrage House. I find that I could get plenty to do if we had brick. Thursday, March 8 Weather continues very pleasant. We are still working in the carage House. I will have to give up building my house untill we get new brick. Sallie has a very bad cold. Friday, March 9 Weather very pleasant what time we did work today. We worked on the carage House. I got a little house to build today for Mr. Backious. Sallie is still complaining. Saturday, March 10 Weather very pleasant & about 4 o’clock commenced to rain. We did not get quite through at the Stable. Sallie is still complaining. Sunday, March 11 Weather very pleasant. Went to church in the morning and at Sabbath School but did not go to church in the evening. Sallie was not very well today. Monday, March 12 Weather continues very pleasant. We finished at the Messers George & Wood’s at three o’clock this afternoon. I commenced to get a little house ready for Mr. Backious on C St. Tuesday, March 13 Weather very pleasant. Sallie & I took a ride this morning out to Jack Haun’s place about 8 miles from MV. We had a very pleasant ride the grass is quite green now on the plains. All well. Wednesday, March 14 Weather very pleasant but a little cloudy & has the appearance of rain. I started a little House on C St. for Mr. Backious. It is an addition to his store. We are all well. Thursday, March 15 Weather continues about the same. We worked all day for Mr. Backious. We commenced to hall sand at Mr. Dr. Soul’s House out on D St cross the slew. All well. Friday, March 16 Rained quite hard all last night & most all day today. I got news a day or so ago that one of our Horses is gone the presuption is that he is stold. I have a very sore Bile on my neck. Sallie is not very well. Saturday, March 17 Today has been very pleasant after the rain. We did not do anything at the Building today. My Bile has been very sore all day. I rec. a letter from Bro. James this evening all well. Sunday, March 18 Weather pleasant. We did not go to church all day. I had a very bad Bile on my neck. Sallie was not very well either. I wrote to Bro. James & Josiah in the afternoon. Monday, March 19 Weather very pleasant. Today has been the ellection day for Mair & city officers. It went off as quite as possible. I commenced today a Sess Pool at my house on 5th & F.Sts. Tuesday, March 20 Weather pleasant. We worked all day at Mr. Backious. Evening went to the Lodge. We are talking in the Lodge about building a New Hall. Wednesday, March 21 Weather pleasant. I commenced my Privey this morning. We finished at Mr. Backious today. We are out of brick now. We want to commence soon. Thursday, March 22 Weather pleasant in the morning. Rained quite hard all the afternoon. Rain is very much needed at this time. We are all well. Friday, March 23 Today has been a regular April day rain & sunshine alternately. I finished the brickwork of my privey & put the roof on. We are all well. Saturday, March 24 Weather very pleasant. I have been busy all day. I made agreement with a Bucher for our meet at 12 cents per lb. Emily and Annie came home this eve. Sunday, March 25 Weather very pleasant. At church morning and at Sabbath School at 2 o’clock. Sarah did not go to church today. She was not very well. Monday, March 26 Weather continues very pleasant. I worked a while on the yard today. I expect we will commence to make about next Monday. Tuesday, March 27 Weather very pleasant but has the appearance of rain. I worked a little about my place on F. St. Evening went to the Lodge. We have decided there to build a Hall. Wednesday, March 28 It coommenced to rain last night & has been raining quite hard every since. Everybody is glad to see it the country needs it very much. All well. Thursday, March 29 The weather continues wet. The very weather we need for us all. I have enough small jobs to keep me busy. Friday, March 30 The weather continues wet. I went out to the Ranch after one of our Horses. Charley Horse was not stolen as we expected found them all well. We are all well. Saturday, March 31 Cloudy but no rain today. We worked a little in the Yard today. We want to commence to make brick just as soon as the weather will permitt. Sallie is not very well today. Sunday, April 1 It commenced to rain last night & it continued all day toady. Sallie gave birth to the child at ½ past 10 last night. Dr. McLean, Mrs. Sherman and Mrs. McDonald was present. Monday, April 2 Rained all the morning. Afternoon I went to work at Messers Theall & Co. to do a little job. Sallie & the child are getting along finely. Mrs. Mc. stays with her most of the day. Tuesday, April 3 I sent Bro. Jas. His money today. Weather cloudy & rained a little in the evening. Worked most all day at How & Cook’s. Sallie is getting along as well as expected and the child also. Wednesday, April 4 It rained quite hard and blew all day. I went out after the oxen this morning [- -] [--] I sold them for $200.00 to 2 yong [--] to go off in the Mountains to team. Sallie is getting along very well. Thursday, April 5 Weather continues very wet. Sarah is as well as could be expected & also the child. I am not doing much now. Friday, April 6 Weather continues about the same. We are having splendid weather now for the Ranchers. The supposition is now that everything will be very plenty next year or this summer. Sallie is well. Saturday, April 7 Weather quite cool today. A little rain fell. I was out collecting part of today. Mrs. McDonald is waiting on Sallie she has been very well today. We have not begun to make brick yet. Sunday, April 8 Weather very pleasant. I went to church in the morning & took a walk in the afternoon. Sallie is getting along very well. We have a nurse with her all the time. Monday, April 9 Weather very pleasant after the heavy rains we have had. The weather appears to have settled. I am getting the yard ready so we can get to molding by Thursday. Tuesday, April 10 Today has been very pleasant. I worked on the yard all day. We have it in good order now to commence molding. Sallie is well. Wednesday, April 11 Weather continues very pleasant. We worked about the yard all day. Want to commence to make brick in the morning. Sallie & child is well. Thursday, April 12 Weather very pleasant. We commenced to make brick this morning. The first in the place for this season. I rode out in the country this afternoon to see about buying a Horse. Friday, April 13 The weather continues very pleasant. The boys are only putting out about 700 brick a day. We have some of the same hands we had last year. Sallie & the baby is well. Saturday, April 14 Weather pleasant & a little windy and has the appearance of rain. I rode out in the country agan today to see a yoke of oxen. I agreed to buy a Horse from Croff teamster for $80 6 years old. Sunday, April 15 Weather very pleasant. I went to church in the morning did not go to Sabbath School today. Sallie was not very well so I stayed with her the balance of the day. Monday, April 16 Weather continues very pleasant but it has the appearance of rain. We are still molding brick. I was about the yard most all day. Sallie & the child is well. Dorsey went to the yard to board. Tuesday, April 17 Weather still clear & windy. The front wall that I put up for George & Wood fell this morning. With two Painters on the orning the orning was the cause of the wall falling. One man was very badly hurt. Wednesday, April 18 The weather continues about the same. I commenced to rebuild the wall that fell yesterday. Some try to put the blame on me but the majority clear me from any fault. They spoke of it in all the papers of this place. Thursday, April 19 It commenced to rain this morning about 4 o’clock. We had the brick all covered that we could before it rained. I got quite wet in the yard covering up the kiln. Sallie & baby well. Friday, April 20 Weather very pleasant all day but a little cloudy. We worked all day on the stable. The men on the yard worked ½ day. The yard is quite wet yet. Sallie & the Baby is well. Saturday, April 21 Weather very pleasant. We finished the stable job this morning. I am quite busy now. I got another job this eve to do for Mr. C. Reynolds Banker.Sallie & the child is well. Sunday, April 22 Weather very pleasant. I went to the church in the morning did not go in the evening. Sallie & the Baby is getting along finely. Mr. Wallsworth preached for us today. Monday, April 23 Weather continues very pleasant. I commenced a job this morning for Mr. C. Reynolds fixing up a House on High St for the Warren Engine Co. We are all well. Tuesday, April 24 Weather continues pleasant. We worked all day at the same place. All is right on the yard. The mashine Horse I bought a few days ago is getting along very well he is 6 years old this spring. Wednesday, April 25 Today has been quite warm. I finished the work at the Engine House. I have several small jobs to do. Family all well except the baby is not very well today. Thursday, April 26 Weather quite warm today. I started two other small jobs of repairing today. The weather is very fine now for making brick and everything is going along finely on the yard, all well. Friday, April 27 Weather continues very pleasant. Worked all day. Sallie & the Baby is well. Saturday, April 28 Today was quite disagreeable on account of a heavy North wind blowing all day. I did a job for Jacob Gingle today at those Houses McDonald & I put up for him in 56. We are all well. Sunday, April 29 Not quite so windy today. in the morning I went to our church & in the evening I went to hear Bro.Muday(?) M. E. Minister. W. Smith got back from the states today. Monday, April 30 Weather not quite so disagreeable today. I am still busy jobbing about. Cannot do much before we get new brick. We are all very well. Tuesday, May 1 Weather a little windy & has the appearance of rain. We missed one of our Horses last night from the pasture & Seward one from the same place, He & I rode all day today to try and find them but could not get no tidings of them. Wednesday, May 2 It commenced to rain today about noon & has been raining ever since. We will be very apt to lose all the brick on the yard. We rode most all day looking for the Horses could not find them. Thursday, May 3 It continues to rain. We have given up looking for the Horses & have come to the conclusion they are stolen. Sallie is well & also the child. Friday, May 4 It did not rain last night but has been raining all day. it is playing [--] with us brickmakers but I hope for the best. I have been in the House all day. Saturday, May 5 The weather has been showery all day. I bought a Horse today gave $125.00 for him. I am afraid we will have trouble with him. We tryed him in the wagon and he wont go. We have not found our Horse yet. Sunday, May 6 Weather very pleasant. I did not go to church untill evening. I stayed Home all day. Sallie & the child is very well. Monday, May 7 The weather has been very pleasant all day. We got a full days work on the yard for the first since last Monday. We tryed the new Horse in the Mashine but could not make him work. Tuesday, May 8 Weather very pleasant. Isaac Green took our new Horse to brake him is driving him in the Stage. He goes very well there. I have been jobing today. We are all well. Wednesday, May 9 Weather continues very pleasant. We worked all day at the Graveyerd doing some work for Mr. J. C. Fall building a vault for his wife and child. Thursday, May 10 Weather pleasant but a little windy & it rained off to the South from here. I am afraid we are going to have more rain. We worked all day at the Graveyard. Friday, May 11 Weather very bad. It commenced to rain last night and most all day today. Cleared off late this evening. We will loose a few bricks. We are all well. Saturday, May 12 The weather has been quite pleasant today. We [--] the kiln and put in all the brick we could besides we have not found our Horses as yet. We are all well. Sunday, May 13 Weather pleasant. I went to church morning & evening today. Sallie has not got out yet but she & also the child has got along remarkably. Monday, May 14 Weather continues very pleasant. I worked at the kiln all the afternoon. We got it finished and Fire in it by sun down. It only has about 140,000 in it. It is our first kiln this season. Tuesday, May 15 Weather continues very pleasant but it has the appearance of rain. I chainged the Windows on the front of my House on D. St. today. The kiln is getting along finely. All well. Wednesday, May 16 Weather pleasant. I did not do very much today I was up with the kiln all last night. We have not found our Horse yet. Sallie went out with me this evening down town first time. Thursday, May 17 Weather pleasant. I had water brought into my house corner 5th & F. Streets today. I got ready to start after the Horse we had stolen on the 1st of May tomorrow morning. Sallie & Baby is well. Friday, May 18 It started to rain last night but I started this morning late. I rode as far as Mr. Cox on the George Town Road. Stoped all night at a Hotel on the Sac. Road at Johnson’s Crossing on the Bear River. It rained all day & I got wet. Saturday, May 19 Weather very pleasant. After the rain I started down Bear River got our dinner at Nicholas. Rode around untill about 3 o’clock and then returned home by Crabtrees heard nothing from him. Sunday, May 20 Weather very pleasant. I was very lame after I got home last eve & was layed up all day with my back something like the rhumatism. Bro. Williams called & we had a very pleasant sing. Monday, May 21 Weather pleasant. My back is very bad yet. We keep molding & burning at the same time. I have not got the new Horse to work yet. Tuesday, May 22 Weather pleasant but keeps cloudy and showers every now & then. We finished burning last night got a very good burn. My back still keeps lame. Wednesday, May 23 Weather quite wintry all day but we got out a full days work on the yard. The weather keeps very bad for brick making. The kiln is not cool enough yet. My back is still very lame yet. Thursday, May 24 Weather cloudy and damp. We got lime out to commence Mr. Soul’s job as soon as the bricks get cool enough to handle. I have 3 or 4 Houses to build just as soon as we can get to work. Friday, May 25 Weather very unsettled. It rained off & on all day but we made out to get out a full days work on the yard. I moved the old pump from Mr. Selbey’s out to Mr. Soul’s place this afternoon. Saturday, May 26 Weather very pleasant today. I have been trying all day to traid the new Horse off but could not. I rode out as far as Mr. Pain’s. I have felt very unwell today. We are having the House whightning(?) on D. St. Sunday, May 27 Weather very pleasant but a little windy. Morning I went to Church & in the afternoon I got a little wagon & took the baby riding. Monday, May 28 Weather very pleasant. We started Dr. Soul’s House this morning. It is quite a large House 36X32 two storys High besides the seller. I was trying to sell the House to Judge Bliss but could not. Tuesday, May 29 Weather continues very pleasant. We worked all day. Josiah S. Bowen got back this eve he is well. We are very busy now having 3 or 4 Houses on hand. Sallie is very well & also the baby. Wednesday, May 30 Weather pleasant. We finished up the seller of Dr. Soul’s House by 3 o’clock and then got ready to start a House for Mr. Shafer [--]. We are all well. Thursday, May 31 We had quite a little brush this evening & it thundered a little. Josiah went to work today. We worked all day on Shafer’s job. We are all well. Friday, June 1 Weather very unsettled we had quite a shower this afternoon. We got Shafer’s Basement up. The weather is very bad for making brick. Sallie is well. Saturday, June 2 Weather has been very pleasant all day. We started on the main story of Dr. Soul’s House. I have been looking for a lot to build a House on for myself. Sunday, June 3 Weather very pleasant. Did not go to church untill this evening. Sallie wanted me to stay Home with her in the morning. I wrote to Jacob this evening. We are all well. Monday, June 4 Weather has been quite unpleasant all day cloudy & windy. We worked all day at Dr. Soul’s House. I got another little job this evening. We are very busy. Tuesday, June 5 Weather more pleasant today. We worked all day at the same place. Evening I went to the Lodge. We are all well. Wednesday, June 6 Weather very pleasant. We got the mane story up today at Dr. Soul’s House. I started a little job for Mr. H. Charles on D. St. We are all well. Thursday, June 7 It rained a little last evening enough to lay the dust. We worked at Dr. Soul’s all day. I felt a good deal better today. We signed the contract to build a 4 story addition to the St. Nicholas Hotel. Wednesday, June 13 Weather has been quite pleasant today. We are still at Dr. Soul’s. We are very busy now. Josiah & I settled up some Notes we held and the one he had against me. All well. Thursday, June 14 Weather pleasant but very windy & cool enough to wear our coats in the morning. We worked all day at Dr. Soul’s. We are all well. The kiln is still burning. Friday, June 15 Not quite so windy today. We finished at the Dr’s. I measured it all up. It has 86,377 Brick. We get $13.00 per. We commence the job at the St. Nicholas tomorrow. Friday, December 7 Weather continues about the same but it was quite cool last night. We had quite a frost. We are all well. Saturday, December 8 We finished up our contract at the Hall today. Weather continues pleasant. We are still working on the Market House. We will have the second story on in a few days. We are all well. Sunday, December 9 Weather pleasant. I did not go to our church today. Evening I went to the M. E. Church. We are all very well. Monday, December 10 Weather continues very pleasant. We are still on the second story of the Market House. Judge Bliss decided in favour of the Free [--] today. They are firing cannons and rejoicing over it. Tuesday, December 11 Weather pleasant & has the appearance of rain. We worked all day on the Market. We are all well. Wednesday, December 12 Rained all last night & most all day today. We finished up the balance of our contract this afternoon on the Odd Fellows Hall. The building looks very fine. We are all well. Thursday, December 13 Rained all last night but clear today so we could work. We are very busy. We have two or three jobs waiting for us to commence just a soon as we can. We are all well. Friday, December 14 Weather cloudy & damp. We worked all day on the Market. We are getting $11 per thousand for Brick on the yard this Winter. Saturday, December 15 Rained quite hard last night & cloudy all day. We finished up the second story of the Market they gave another first payment today. We are all well. Sunday, December 16 Rained all day. We did not get out to church all day. I rec. 2 letters from home. They are all well. Monday, December 17 Weather continues bad so we can not work. We have Fuller’s job already to start but can not on account of the weather. We are all well. Tuesday, December 18 The weather continues about the same wet. The ranchers are very glad to see it on account of getting there crops in. The season has been very backward for them. We are all well. Wednesday, December 19 Rained part of today. We worked part of today on Fuller’s two Houses. We are laying the foundation walls. It is a very mudy job. We do the work for $13 for first story and $14 for second story. Thursday, December 20 Weather cloudy & showery. We worked all day on Fuller’s stores on 2nd St. between Maiden Lane and D Sts. We got all the foundation walls in today. We are all well. Friday, December 21 It rained last night & a little this morning. We went to work at 9 o’clock. We are very much hurred with our work at present. The Slough is so high we have to come round and come cross the Bridge. Saturday, December 22 Weather has been quite pleasant today. We began to top out the Market House this morning at 9. It will take us about 3 days. We are all well. Sunday, December 23 Weather cloudy but very little rain. I went to my church in the morning. We are all well. Monday, December 24 We had a very heavy rain & wind early this morning about 4 o’clock. It blew down the new Market House we were putting up. It was all finished but the fire walls & it all blew down causing a loss of about 4000$. Tuesday, December 25 Chrismas Day. Very disagreeable day. Dont see much Chrismas. 11 o’clock Sallie is cleaning up the House. Baby sleeping. Dorsey goes out. I’ve ? got the turkey to pick about like to do it very much. The Market House havent fell up yet. Wednesday, December 26 Weather continues bad so we can not work. We commenced this morning but we had to stop. We expect to have a law suit about the Market House before we settle it. Thursday, December 27 The weather continues bad so we can not work. No move has been made yet about settling the Market House affair. The rain & wind has done a great deal of harm about town. Friday, December 28 Today has been very pleasant but it is very mudy yet. We worked all day on Fuller’s stores on 2nd St. We are all well. Saturday, December 29 Weather pleasant. We worked all day at the same place. The streets is in a very mudy condition yet. I gave our Lawyer the [--] to sue on this eve. Sunday, December 30 Weather pleasant. Sallie & I went to church in the morning ( Baptist) We are all well. I wrote to Bro. Jas. in the evening. Monday, December 31 Cloudy & wet most all day. We worked untill we got wet on Mr. Fuller’s two stores. We are all very well. We havent the Market House job settled yet.
