I worked part of today at home making some repairs about the back porch. Family all very well. Friday, January 2 Weather continues about the same cloudy. I worked most all day about home. Family all well. Saturday, January 3 Weather continues cloudy but it did not rain much today. I finished the most of my porch today got it all shut in. Family all well. Sunday, January 4 Rained all day. We did not get out to church all day. But they had Church in the morning. Family all well. Monday, January 5 Weather continues bad but it is just what the ranchers want to make the ground soft so they can plough. Family all well. Tuesday, January 6 Weather continues about the same. I have been working at my improvements at Home dureing the bad weather. Family all well. Wednesday, January 7 Weather not quite so bad. We worked at the Graveyard most all day. All well at home. Thursday, January 8 Weather a little better. Worked at the same place most all day. Family all well. Friday, January 9 Weather pleasant. We are still at the same place. Evening I went to a Rail Road meeting at the City Hall. We are all well. Saturday, January 10 Weather pleasant. I went up to Brown’s Vallie this morning to see about sitting a Boiller for Mr. Harris at Cortez Mill. Got back about 5 o’clock. Family all well. Sunday, January 11 Weather pleasant. Rained a little in the morning. Sallie & I went to Church morning and evening. Family all well. Monday, January 12 Weather quite cool and windy. We raised the fire walls of Henrys today in the morning. In the afternoon we went out to the Grave Yard to get some stones for Mr. Willes(?) Family all well. Tuesday, January 13 Weather continues about the same cool. We got through at the Grave Yard today but we have some more to do for another man. We are going at Mr. Stokes next. Wednesday, January 14 Weather pleasant today. I worked at the Queen City Mills most of today. We commenced some work for the California Stage Company this afternoon. We are quite busy now. We are all well. Thursday, January 15 Weather pleasant. We finished the job for the stage co and then we started the job for Charlie Stokes putting another story on his House on C St. Family all well. Friday, January 16 Weather a little cloudy but no rain. We are getting about very well with the job. We are quite busy now jobing. Family all well. Eve we went to the sing. Saturday, January 17 Weather quite wet all day & windy. We worked all day on Stokes House. I spent part of today collecting. I was quite sucessfull but not as much so as I would have liked to have been. Sunday, January 18 Weather pleasant. Sallie & I were at Church & Sabbath school. We are all well. Monday, January 19 Weather cloudy and rainy all day. We are quite busy now but the weather is so bad we cannot work more than 3 or 4 days out of a week. Family all well. Tuesday, January 20 Weather continues about the same. No work today. Family all well. Wednesday, January 21 The weather continues about the same. The roads has got very bad on account of so much rain. Worked about an hour today. Family all well. Thursday, January 22 Weather a little better today so we could go to work. We are still at Stokes job. Family all well. Friday, January 23 Weather cloudy but no rain. It rained very hard last night & blew quite a gail. It blew down part of one of the long walls at Stokes house but we got it all fixed up again about noon. Saturday, January 24 Weather pleasant a little cloudy but no rain. We finished up the story at Stokes House about 9 this morning & then we went out to the graveyard to do some work. We are very busy now. I gave up a job this evening of setting a Boyler for Harris. Sunday, January 25 Weather pleasant. Sallie & I were at Church in the morning but I could not go in the evening. Family all well. Monday, January 26 Weather pleasant. Jerry Reveer started to do our Halling in Shannon’s place. We pay $1.25 per M count and dose the halling of the Lime & Sand scaffolding in. Family all well. Tuesday, January 27 Weather continues pleasant but the mornings are cool. I commenced some work for Smith the Lumber man this morning. Seward is topping out Stokes House. Wednesday, January 28 Weather continues very pleasant. Mr. W. L. Williams got up from the Bay with his intended and was Married this eve at the Bap. Church before quite a large congregation. Thursday, January 29 Weather continues about the same. I worked all day at Smith’s on E. St. Seward is building a oven for Mc the Baker. We are quite busy now. Family all well. Friday, January 30 Weather continues very pleasant. I started some work for Mr. Ellis at the Cal Ransom place building a back building paveing &co. family all well. Eve we went to the sing. Saturday, January 31 Weather very pleasant. Worked all day at Mr. Ellis on D St. Seward is still at the oven. Family all well. Sunday, February 1 Weather pleasant. At church in the morning with Sallie but not in the Evening. Had to stay home and mind the children. Family all well. Monday, February 2 Weather good. Worked all day at Ellis on D & 8th Streets. We are quite busy now. Seward is still at the Bakery. Family all well. Tuesday, February 3 Weather continues pleasant. We are still at the same places working. Evening I went to the Lodge. Family all well. Wednesday, February 4 Weather continues pleasant. Seward got through at the Bake oven. He is now with me at Mr. Ellis. Family all well. Eve I went to the Opra. Thursday, February 5 The weather continues pleasant. We are still at Mr. Ellis. Got ready for the seeling joist at noon. Rained in the afternoon. Family all well. Friday, February 6 Weather unpleasant rained most all day. We did not work today. I worked at Home part of the day making some improvements. Family all well. Evening we went to the sing. Saturday, February 7 Weather very pleasant. We worked all day at the Ellis House got most through with the citchen. Family all well. Sunday, February 8 Weather pleasant. At Church & S. S. in the morning. Sallie went in the evening I had to stay home. Family all well. Monday, February 9 Weather pleasant. We topped out Mr. Ellis back building this morning & then we started a little job for Shaffer & Co. Tuesday, February 10 Weather continues very pleasant. We finished Shaffer’s job today. We don his job on time at one & one half per cent per Month. Family all well. Wednesday, February 11 Weather unpleasant. Rained very hard last night & part of today. We did not work much today. Evening Sallie & Miss Carrie Green went to the prayer meeting. Thursday, February 12 Rained very hard last night & today & part of this eve. It Hailed considerable enough to make the ground white. I worked about Home all day making some improvements about the back part of the House. Friday, February 13 Weather cloudy and showery. We did not work today. I worked about Home all day. Family all well. Evening we went to the sing. Saturday, February 14 Weather cloudy and it rained a little but not enough to stop us from work. We worked all day at Mr. Ellis. Mr. and Mrs Were(?) spent the day with us. Family all well. Sunday, February 15 Weather pleasant. At church & Sabbath School in the morning with Sallie but I did not go in the evening. Family all well. Monday, February 16 Weather pleasant. We worked part of today at Mr. Ellis. We are not very busy now. All that we have to do is some jobing. Family all well. Tuesday, February 17 Weather cloudy and wet. We are not at work today. I am about Home most of the time fixing up about the back porch. Wednesday, February 18 Weather unpleasant. We are Idle yet on account of the weather. Ella is not very well. Thursday, February 19 Weather continues about the same. We have not got to work yet. Friday, February 20 Weather pleasant today. We went to work at Ellises today paveing his side walk. Family better today. Saturday, February 21 Weather cloudy and damp but we worked. We got about through at Mr. Ellis. Family all well. Sunday, February 22 Weather quite pleasant. We were at Church and S. S. in the morning. In the evening I stayed home and Sallie and Miss Carrie Green went to Church. Monday, February 23 Weather very pleasant. We commenced some curbing for Dr. Rice on the corner of 4th and E Streets. Sallie, Ella and Charlie had their likenesses taken today at the Odd F. Hall. Tuesday, February 24 Weather pleasant. We worked all day at Dr. Rice Lowery & Dr. Thompson. We finished their curb. Family all well. Wednesday, February 25 Weather continues quite pleasant. We worked all day one at Mr. Ellises & one at Mr. Selbys. Evening I visited the encampment. Family all well. Thursday, February 26 Weather continues pleasant. Worked all day. Family all well. We are not very busy now. Friday, February 27 Weather continues pleasant. We worked most all day jobing about. We finished Dr. Rice’s job and done a job for Mr. DeLong. Evening we went to the sing and took Ella with us. Saturday, February 28 Weather continues very pleasant. We finished the work at Mr. Ellises and he paid us up in full. Family all well. Sunday, March 1 Weather pleasant. We were at Church & S. S. in the morning. Sallie went in the evening with Carrie Green. I stayed at home. Family all well. Monday, March 2 Weather continues very pleasant. I commenced to rebuild my front fence on 5th St. I am using the same fence with new Red wood posts and brick foundation. Family all well. Tuesday, March 3 Weather continues pleasant. I finished our front fence today. Family all well. Wednesday, March 4 Weather pleasant. I commenced to build a thick culvert in front of my Houses on 5th St. We commenced some work for Jacob Gingle. Family all well. Thursday, March 5 Weather very pleasant. I finished the culvert and finished out part of the day at Gingles building a curb. At 4 our choir, numbering about 14 of us with the Pastor went out to Mr. Eaton’s. We had a very pleasant time. Friday, March 6 Weather pleasant. We worked part of today on a job for Dr. Thompson. At 10 I went a Collens sail and bought a few things. Family all well. Eve went to the sing. Saturday, March 7 Weather cloudy. We worked at Gingle’s most all the day. We are not very busy now but we still have some jobing to do. Family all well. Sunday, March 8 Weather pleasant. We were at Church and S. S. in the morning. Sallie went in the evening. I did not go I had to stay home and mind the children. Family all well. Monday, March 9 Weather pleasant. We worked all day at the grave yard. We are not very busy now. Family all well. Tuesday, March 10 Weather pleasant. We are still at the grave yard at work. We are all well. Wednesday, March 11 Weather pleasant. We worked at the grave yard until noon. We ran out of lime and had to stop work. Evening I went to the encampment. We are all well. Thursday, March 12 Weather looks like rain. I went to the Presbyterian Church to work today paveing in the back yard. Seward is at work at Gingles. We are all well. Friday, March 13 Weather about the same as yesterday. I am still at the same place at work. I am not very busy now. Family all well. Evening we went to the sing. Saturday, March 14 Weather pleasant. I finished at the church in the afternoon. I went to Mr. Selbys to work. Seward finished at the graveyard. Family all well. Sunday, March 15 Weather pleasant. Sallie did not go in the morning but went in the evening to church. I stayed home as usual to mind the children. In the afternoon I wrote to Bro. James. We are all well. Monday, March 16 Weather continues pleasant. I worked all day at Mr. Selby’s. Seward lost a child. It died last night. It will be berried tomorrow. We are all well. Tuesday, March 17 Weather pleasant. I built Sewards grave for his little girl it was buried about 12 o’clock. Our family all well. Wednesday, March 18 Weather cloudy and rainy most all day. I was about Home all day. I am having the water brought into my house in Iron pipes. The old lead pipes kept bursting. We are all well. Thursday, March 19 Weather pleasant today. I worked all day. In the morning at Dr. Thompson’s in the afternoon I started some work at the Queen City Mill. We are all well. Friday, March 20 Weather wet. It rained quite hard all day. It is something we all want very bad. Dorsey & I worked all day at the Mill. Evening we went to the sing. Saturday, March 21 Weather pleasant but quite mudy after the hard rains we have had for the last few days. Dorsey & I worked all day at the same place. Family all well. Sunday, March 22 Weather pleasant. Sallie went to Church morning & evening. I went in the morning but had to stay Home in the evening with the children. Family all well. Monday, March 23 Weather pleasant. I finished at the Mill this morning. I commenced to get ready to do some work for myself about Home. I am going to Oil & pencil down my two houses on the corner of 5th St. Tuesday, March 24 Weather pleasant. I worked all morning about Home. In the afternoon I examined the books of the Odd Fellows Hall Association. Family all well. Wednesday, March 25 Weather continues pleasant. I am still working about Home. Family all well. Evening I was at a meeting of the Hall Association. Thursday, March 26 Weather continues pleasant. I was still working about Home. Family all well. Friday, March 27 Weather continues pleasant. Still working about Home. Eve we went to the sing and took the children with us. We are all well. Saturday, March 28 Weather continues pleasant. Worked about Home most of the day. Afternoon I went out collecting. Family all well. Sunday, March 29 Weather very pleasant. Sallie did not go to church this morning but she went in the evening. I went in the morning we had a very full Sabbath School. Monday, March 30 Weather quite warm today. I commenced to pencil this morning. Family all well. Evening I went to a Hall meeting. Tuesday, March 31 Weather very warm. I worked all day penciling. Work is quite dull now. Evening I went to the Lodge. Family all well. Wednesday, April 1 Weather continues quite warm. I got most through penciling today. I intend to start to the Bay in the morning. Family all well. Thursday, April 2 Weather pleasant but a little cloudy. I started for San Francisco this morning at 7 o’clock. The Boat arrived at Sacramento at 11 o’clock. Spent 3 hours there. Saw the State Capital foundation. Arrived at the Bay about 10. Had a very pleasant trip. Friday, April 3 Weather pleasant but part of the day was quite windy. I find that San Francisco is improveing very rapidly and that with the finest kind of Houses. I walked about most all day. I found a good many of my old aquaintancies. Saturday, April 4 Weather continues about the same. I am in San Francisco. I went this morning to see a new brick making machine but the man had none on hand yet but expected to have some soon. Sunday, April 5 Weather pleasant. Wm. Gable & I took quite a walk this morning before Church. In the walk we came across Mr. Armor & I spent the balance of the day with him. At 11 I went to here Sa[-] King. Evening we went to the Baptist Church. Monday, April 6 Weather pleasant. I spent most of the morning tending to a little business. I got my likeness taken on cards. I started for Home in the afternoon about 5 o’clock arrived at Sacramento about 4. I had to sit up all night I could not get a Birth the Boat was so full. Tuesday, April 7 Weather quite cool. I got my breakfast in Sacramento and took the Cars for Lincoln by way of Falcon(?). The balance of the [trip] I came by stage. Arrived in Marysville about ½ past 1. Found my Family all well and very glad to see me. Wednesday, April 8 Weather pleasant. Walked about most of the day but did not do much. I have work to do but there is no lime in town. Business is quite dull now but it is expected to be quite brisk this summer. Thursday, April 9 Weather pleasant. I got a job to do today for Mr. Knight the gass man a stable to build but we cannot do anything yet on account of no lime. Family all well. Friday, April 10 Weather unpleasant today very windy. We are still waiting for lime. Evening I went to the sing. Sallie did not go this evening on account of the children not being very well. Saturday, April 11 Weather pleasant. We have not got to work yet on account of no lime. I did a little collecting and apaying out. Family not very well bad colds. Sunday, April 12 Weather pleasant. I went to Church and Sallie in the evening. The children have very bad colds. Monday, April 13 Weather very pleasant. I worked all day at Mr. Selbys Store putting in arches. Jerry lost his little girl last Friday and it was berried last Saturday. Family all about the same. Tuesday, April 14 Weather pleasant. I started a stable for Mr. Knight. T. Seward & I consented to quit doing business together after the above date on account of his going away from Marysville. Wednesday, April 15 Weather continues pleasant. I worked all day at Mr. Knights. Charlie & Ella is not very well. Thursday, April 16 Weather pleasant. I am still working at the same place. I have no one but Owen working for me now. Family all about the same. Friday, April 17 Weather continues about the same. Dorsey went to work with me this afternoon. The children continue about the same except Charlie he is better. Saturday, April 18 Weather pleasant. We are still working at the same place. Ella continues sick but we dont think she is very daingerous. We have had the Doctor. Sunday, April 19 Weather pleasant. Sallie did not go to Church with me this morning but went in the evening. Ella continues a little unwell. Monday, April 20 Weather wet and rained most all day so I could not do anything. Ella continues unwell. I bought some things at J. L. Eaton’s sale today. Tuesday, April 21 Weather more favourable today. It cleared off so we went to work in the afternoon. We are still at Knight’s. Ella continues about the same but not daingerous. Wednesday, April 22 Weather pleasant. Pat McCarty went to work for me this afternoon on the stable. Family all about the same. Thursday, April 23 Weather pleasant. We are still at the stable. Family all about the same. Friday, April 24 Weather pleasant. We finished at the stable and done a little job for Mr. William Hawles(?). Family all about the same. We did not go to the sing this evening. Saturday, April 25 Weather quite pleasant. I am not at work now on account of no lime in town but I am not very busy now. I put my name to a company to send a man to Humbolt prospecting for us. Sunday, April 26 Weather pleasant. Sallie went to Church morning & evening. I went in the morning. I stayed Home and took care of the children in the evening. Family all about the same. Monday, April 27 Weather pleasant. I started some brickwork for Senoz(?) the Painter seller and foundation for a frame House. Family all about the same. Tuesday, April 28 Weather pleasant but part of the day was quite warm. We finished Seavegs(?) job and also a job at the graveyard for Mr. E. Hamilton. Family about the same. Wednesday, April 29 Weather very pleasant. I measured up the stable and Mr. Knight paid me the balance after deducting my Bill which was for the gas pipe put in my House on D. St. Family well. Ella is getting better. Thursday, April 30 Weather pleasant. I am not doing very much now. Times are very dull with everything. I have a few small jobs to do but not to amount to much. Family all well. Friday, May 1 Weather continues about the same. Parts of the day are a little warm. The firm of Harris Essayors failed here today which has caused quite an excitement. A great many have lost by them. Family all well. Saturday, May 2 Weather continues about the same. I put in a bid for the raising of a story on the County Jail today. I find the times very dull and hard to collect money. We are all very well. Sunday, May 3 Weather pleasant. Sallie did not go to Church with me in the morning but went in the evening. We are all well. Monday, May 4 Weather pleasant. We the Bondsmen for John S. Love’s appearance have been together part of the day and in the evening. We had a meeting to consult each other in reffreance to the best way to settle it up. Tuesday, May 5 Weather pleasant. At 2 o’clock we met the Supervisors and made them a proposition that we would gove $500.00 in Greenbacks apiece or its equivalent in gold. They considered on it till eve but refused but said they would take $400 in gold Wednesday, May 6 Weather pleasant. We had 2 or 3 meetings with the Supervisors and finely settled it all up by the following paying McDermitt, Eckerd, Davis, Shafer Johnson Wincle McComas $400.00 each & Barrett $300.00 Thursday, May 7 Weather pleasant. I have not been to work any this week. They continued our case untill Saturday to give us time to raise the money. I have enough in the Bank to pay my part. Friday, May 8 Weather continues pleasant. I made a contract with F. L. Craft this week to make my Brick for this year. He makes them for $5.50 per thousand. That is about as cheap as I can make them. Saturday, May 9 Weather continues pleasant. We paid our money today to the County and I feel very glad that I have got it off my mind. Family all well. Sunday, May 10 Weather pleasant. Sallie, Ella and I went to Church in the morning. Evening I stayed at home. We are making prepperations to give a consert for the benefit of our Sabbath School. Monday, May 11 Weather pleasant. Part of the day was a little warm. Dorsey & I worked at the Odd Fellows Hall raising the yard wall. Family all well. Tuesday, May 12 Weather pleasant. We finished the wall today about 9. I have some more work to do about the Hall enlarging the seller and making a Ra(?) wall to get things in the seller. Wednesday, May 13 Weather a little cloudy & cool. Bob the Express man & I went over to the Butes on Mr. Moody’s Ranch to see a Horse that I want to sell. We brought him in & I expect Bob will take him. Thursday, May 14 Weather pleasant. Bob backed out from takeing the Horse today. I took a job to do today for Gray raising a story on the Jail. I get $440.00 for it but I have to wait for the money untill next Dec. Friday, May 15 Weather pleasant. At a meeting last night of the Board of Delegates I was ellected treasurer fund. I went to work this afternoon at the Hall. Evening Sallie went to the sing but I had to stay Home. Saturday, May 16 Weather pleasant. I worked all day at the Hall. I made a bargen today with Frank Coal to take my Horse for Humbolt [--]. Iget at the rate of $100.00 for him. Sunday, May 17 Weather pleasant. Sallie & I were at Church morning & evening & took Ella with us in the morning. Family all well. Monday, May 18 We had quite a rain today. I worked most all day at the Odd F. Hall. Evening I went to monthly Hall meeting. Family all well. Tuesday, May 19 Weather continues wet. I am not doing much now but I have work to do as soon as it is ready. Family all well. I commenced to fix up the old Sherman Store today for a Engine House. Wednesday, May 20 Weather pleasant. I have worked all day at the Sherman Store. I have rented it to the City for a Engine House & I am now fixing it up for that purpose. Eve Seward came to my House and we settled up the most of our business. Thursday, May 21 The weather continues pleasant. We finished all we could do at the store the balance the carpenters will have to do. Family all well. Friday, May 22 Weather pleasant. We worked all day at the graveyard building an Engine House. Family all well. Saturday, May 23 Weather continues about the same. We finished at the garveyeard today got through about 9. Afternoon I went to collecting had very good sucksess We put the engine in the new House this afternoon. Sunday, May 24 Weather pleasant. Sallie went to Church all day but I did not get out all day. Family all well. Monday, May 25 Weather pleasant. I did a contract to do today for the San Francisco Loan Society making a Water Closet at the Post Office at $115.00. I commenced to make mortar at the Jail today. Tuesday, May 26 Weather pleasant. I went to work at William’s Mill today. I have 2 or 3 days work to do for him. We are all well. Wednesday, May 27 Weather pleasant. Our S. School consert came off this eve. We had a very full house & it all went off very well. Sallie sang quite a number of times. I think we will make about $100. Family all well. Thursday, May 28 Weather pleasant. I made a misstake in saying that I went to work at the Mill last Tuesday. I did not go to work there untill today. We had a very pleasant time at the consert last night. Friday, May 29 Weather pleasant. I worked all day at the Mill. Evening Sallie & I went to the sing. Family all well. Saturday, May 30 Weather continues pleasant. It keeps just a little Hazy just enough to make it pleasant. I finished at the Mill today. Family all well. Sunday, May 31 Weather pleasant. Sallie went with me to Church in the morning but not in the evening. Family all well. Monday, June 1 Weather pleasant. I paved Mr. Jewett’s seller today. Evening I went to a firemens meeting. Family all well. Tuesday, June 2 Weather pleasant. I did not work today. I am waiting on the carpenters on the Jail job. Family all well. Wednesday, June 3 Weather pleasant. I went out to the State Reform School to see some work that is to be done. Dorsey & Ella went with me. Family all well. Thursday, June 4 Weather pleasant. I started the Jail job today. I am quite busy now. Family all well. Friday, June 5 Weather pleasant. We had to quit the Jail job at noon on account of Owen getting sick. Eve we went to the sing. Family all well. Saturday, June 6 Weather windy. We worked all day on the Jail job. I collected the Balance that was due me from the San Francisco Loan Society. Family all well. Sunday, June 7 Weather pleasant. At Church morning & evening. Family all well except Charlie he had chill today. Monday, June 8 Weather continues pleasant. We worked all day at the Jail. Family all well. Tuesday, June 9 Weather continues pleasant. We are still at the Jail at work. I traded my Horse for fineing(?) stock at Humbolt at the rate of $200.00 to Frank Coal. Family all well. Wednesday, June 10 Weather pleasant. We are still at the Jail. Evening we went to the Encampment. We initiated 3 one was Mr. Nutter. I saw Mr. Hawley this eve about some work at the State School. Thursday, June 11 Weather continues about the same. We finished at the Jail today. We did one or another little jobs about. I also built a curb for myself on D. St. Family all well. I Rec. a letter & Deed from James. Friday, June 12 Weather pleasant. Dorsey & I worked together all day jobing. I had Pat at John Right’s store jobing. Family all well. Sallie & I went to Goruham’s(?) and signed the Deed today. Saturday, June 13 Weather quite warm. I paved a sidewalk for T. F. Smith. Monday we go to the State Reform School to do some work. Family all well. Eve I went to the Panorama of the War. Sunday, June 14 Weather pleasant. We had Church in the morning but not in the evening on account of Mr. Williams Wife being so sick. We also had no School on the same account. Family all well. Monday, June 15 Weather pleasant. I went out to the State Reform School with some men today to do some work build a seller and fix the chimney. I have about 3 days work to do. We are all well. Tuesday, June 16 Weather quite warm today. We are still at the School and getting along with the work very well. We are treeted in the best manner. Wednesday, June 17 Weather very warm. We finished today. Jerry Revere(?) came out in the evening with the waggon and took us in. I found the Family all well and glad to see us. Thursday, June 18 Weather continues quite warm. I commenced to dig out and wall up my cellar where we live today. The most of it had been dug out for some time but not walled up. Family all well. Friday, June 19 Weather continues about the same. I am still at the cellar. We had no sing this evening on account of Mrs. Williams still being sick but she is improveing. Family all well. Saturday, June 20 Weather continues quite warm. Craft out today in the Brickworking business with an unburnt kiln on hand of 386,610 Brick for $1300.00. I have now about 500 thousand on hand. The Reps. Had a torch light prosession this Eve. Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 Weather pleasant today. Has been a very exciting day among the Democrats. They had a Barbacue out to the Race track & speaking all day and in the eve a torch light prosession & fireworks and just before the speaking commenced in the evening the Orning at the Stage Office opposite the Western Hotel gave way owing to a large crowd being on it and killed one and wounded about 50 and three are not expected to get over it. Sunday, December 20 Weather pleasant. We did not get out to Church today. I am having another attack of feavor. The rest of the Family are all well. Monday, December 21 Weather pleasant the forenoon but it rained in the afternoon. I had some lime come to me on the cars & it was taken to the building in the morning before it rained. Today is my will day. Tuesday, December 22 Weather wet all day & it rained last night. I am quite unwell today. Family well except me. Wednesday, December 23 Weather wet in the afternoon. The men worked in the morning at the Hall. (The following is written, then x’d out. ) Dorsey was married this eve. Sallie went but I was afraid to go out. Thursday, December 24 Weather quite pleasant. I did not go out all day. The men worked at the Hall in the morning but it rained a little in the afternoon & they did not work. Dorsey was Married this evening. Tomorrow is Christmas. Friday, December 25 Weather quite pleasant. Today has been a quite Christmas to us. I did not get out all day. I hope we will be all well next Christmas. Saturday, December 26 Weather pleasant. I went out today to try and collect some money. I collected some for some jobing. I am getting quite well again. The men worked on the Hall today. Sallie & the children are well. Sunday, December 27 Weather very pleasant. Sallie & I went out to Church morning and evening. I stayed to Sabbath School. Family all well. Monday, December 28 Weather very pleasant. I was out all day attending to my work. We finished up the balance of the foundation today & the Carpenters got the joist all on. Family all well. Tuesday, December 29 Weather very pleasant. We finished up the balance of the foundations of the walls of the Hall this morning including the arys. I am jobing at other places. All well. Wednesday, December 30 Weather very pleasant. I am doing some work at the Odd Fellows Hall. Owen is making morter at the Masonic Hall. I rec’d a letter from Josiah today with $510.00 copons for collecttion. Family all well. Thursday, December 31 Weather continues very pleasant. We made all the prepperations today for the laying of the Corner Stone which is to take place tomorrow. I got the first payment on the Masonic Hall today. 75% on what I had done. It amounted to $1025.55 Dollars. Everything has gone along very well so far about the Hall and I must say that I feal very well satisfied with my past year’s work. I have lost but very few Bill and have been quite sucsessfull in collecting Bill when due. I bought Mr. L. F. Craft in the brickmakeing Business his yard adjoins mine and I have no cause to regret that I done so yet. I Bought his yard including about 400,000 Brick (unburnt) for $1300.00 Dollars. I burnt them and made another kiln of about 160,000 with all of the first brick in it for the Masonic Hall. With the exception of some sickness in my family we have got along very well for which I am very thankfull. Money given to charitable purposes this year $223.75
