I think we are haveing a very cold winter. Charlie & Maggie is still away. We are grinding corn now. All well. Friday, December 29 Weather very wintery. It commenced snowing last night & has been snowing & haleing all day & the snow is about 6 or 7 in deep so far. We are haveing a very heavy bad winter for those that are not prepared for it. We ran all last night but had to stop this afternoon on account of the snow & ice filling up the Race & from appearances I am afraid will have to stop for some time. Charlie & Maggie is still away. Saturday, December 30 Weather very cold but no falling weather the ground is covered with about 6 or 8 in snow. We did not let the water on the wheal today was afraid would let the snow and ice down in the Race & that mite keep us from grinding for a long time. Business was very good exchangeing &co. some cash sale. We expect Charlie & Maggie up this eve. All well. Sunday, December 31 Weather very cold and wintery. I did not go away from home all day except in the evening we all went down to spend the evening with Mr. Sellman & family. Charlie went to Wach meeting at Ijamsville Church. Maggie is still in Baltimore and is likely to stay there a while as the weather is so bad she could not go out if she was home. Family all well.
