Came Thomas Vaughan and Thomas Standworth two of the Subscribing Evidences of the last Will or pretended last Will of Absolom Tennison late of St. Mary's County Deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they were sent for by the Deceased to come to his House, where when they arrived they were desired to Sign said Deceaseds Will which altho' disagreeable to them they did in the following manner, They heard the Testator desire a Certain John Conally the writer of said Will to make his the Testators mark and write his name to said Will, whereupon said Connally asked the Deceased if he should mek the Letter A for his Sign (which was his common mark) to which the Testator answered Ay -- after which the said Conally asked the Testator if the Paper so Signed should not pass for his Last Will to which he again replyed Ay -- and further say that at the time of the Executing the above writing the afd Absolom Tennison was to the best of their apprehension of a sound and Disposing mind memory and understanding and further say not. Thomas Vaughan Thomas Standworth Sworn before Elie Vallette Reg. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saint Mary's county to wit June th 27th 1768 The Deposition of John Connally a Person of full Age being duly Sworn Deposeth and saith that he was at the House of Absolom Tennison in his Last Illness who then lay on his Bed very Lame and had been so for many Months before with a Cancer on his leg and who told him this Deponant that he Absolom Tennison had lately made a Will and had been informed that if that Will should stand it would be contrary to his desire that it was Concerning his Dwelling Plantation for his son John then was Dead and having not made any mention of his fall heir to the said Land till his Grandson Absolem came of age, and desired this Deponent to alter that part of his Will, Whereupon the Deponant replied that as the Evidences of the Will were not present he could not alter any part of it whereupon he was Desired by the Testator to wrtie another differing is that part of it relating to his Dwelling Plantation, that his Desire ws that his son Jesse should with his Mother have it untill his Grandson Absolom came of the age of Twenty one years, which accordingly he did, and after he had done it he read it to him, and he the Testator said it ws done according to his Desire Whereupon the Deponant asked the Testaor whether he would Sett up and make his mark to which he replied that it would hurt his Leg and Desired this Deponant to make his the Testators mark, then Depoant then asked him if he Should put the Letter A to the said Will according to his usual way of making his mark to which he replied yes and after this Deponent had so done, he heard the Testator acknowledge that to be his Last Will and Testament, and this Deponent further saith that at the Time of his so doing he this Deponent took him to be in his perfect Sences, and after the will was Evidenced and Delivered he this Deponent perceived the will was not dated which he thereupon did at the Bottom below the Signing of the Evidences. Mary's County to wit June the 27th 1768 The Deposition of George Biscoe a person of full age of the Evidences for the Last Will and Testament of Absolom Tennison late of Said St. Mary's County Deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that he the said George Bisco and the other two Subscribing Wtnesses to said Will viz. Thomas Vaughan and Thomas Standworth and one John Connally were in Company together at the House of the said Absolom Tennison and in the same Room with thim at the Time of the Execution of said Will and that he this Deponent then apprehended the said Absolom Tennison to Signify to the said John Connelly that he should put the Letter A as the mark of the said Absolom Tennison being asked by the said John Connelly if hemight do so to the said Will which the said John Connelly then did and that he this Deponent being then requested by Jesse Tennison to sign his name as a Witness thereto he refused untill he had read it which having done he then signed his name to the Will aforesaid in the Presence of the two other Subscribing Witnesses and in the same Room and near the Bed where the said Absolom Tennison then Lay and that the said Aboslom Tennison appeared to him this Deponent to be of sound and dispossing mind and Memory at that Tiem and that his name Subscribed to the same Will is of his own hand Writing and that he was present in the room when the said two other Subscribing Witnesses Signed their names to the said Will. George Bissco Sworn before the Subscriber the 27th June1768 Owen Allen Deputy Com'ry St. Mary's county ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Saint Mary's County to wit 27th June 1768 You Jesse akas Jestinian Tennison one of the Exors of Absolem Tennison late Deceased make Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that this is the only true last Will and Testament of the said Absolom Tennison that has come to your Hand. You Joanna Tennison one of the Extrs of Absolom Tennison late Deceased Solemnly make Oath on the Holy Evengels of Almighty God that this is the only true Last Will and Testament of said Absolom Tennison that has come to your Hands Possession or Knowledge. So help you God. Sworn before Owen Allen d.
