Most of the surnames researched are associated with this family either by marriage or land ownership. Other surnames are recorded because of the listing of heirs if the ancestor died intestate. George Aisquith – St. Mary’s County Assigned unto brother, Thomas Aisquith, land in St. Mary’s County. 19 September 1748. MD LW&P 1739-1747, FHC Film 0013141, Section 2, page 180 Peregrine Bond, son of Thomas Bond – St. Mary’s County 25 ½ acres “Disappointment” MD LW&P 1784-1787, FHC film 0013123, page 391 John Chun Gardiner of St. Mary’s County Whereas John Chun Gardiner of St. Mary’s County by his petition set forth that a certain James Morris purchased part of Chaptico Manor in Saint Mary’s County and had laid out for this the part purchased and a certificate returned to the land office containing 145 acres, land called “Morris Purchase”. The said James Morris on 23 February 1797 assigned and made over to Edward Gardiner, late deceased, and that the said Edward Gardiner departed this life, without having made a will, leaving the following children, to wit: The petitioner; Sarah, now the wife of Samuel Gardner/Gardiner; Lydra, now the wife of Nathaniel Cahill; Henry Green Gardiner and Elizabeth Gardiner to whom his estate descended. Samuel Deale/Teale AA County Allen Davis –“Allen’s Addition”, Charles county, East side of the Patuxent adjoining “Allen’s Grove”. Tract of land on south side of Patuxent St. Mary’s Co. originally 1648, granted unto Cornelius Kenedy 100 acres. Kenedy died with no heirs. James Heech/Keech – land called “Hillfield” MD LW&P 1787-1790, FHC Film 0013123, page 187 John Griffiths of St. Mary’s County, 13 December 1741, on the head of Britton’s Bay, originally on 6 May 1651 granted Walter Black or Beach for 1, 100 acres, who assigned the same to Paul Sympson and died thereof possessed … intestate and without heirs by which land became escheat. 612 acres then to Dirdlas Lew/Low, Esq. 16 April 1742 MD LW&P 1739-1747 FHC Film 0013141, page 123 (?) St. Mary’s County On this land there are two dwelling houses, one 20 feet long and 15 feet wide and a shed on one side, the other…..feet long and 10 feet wide, both being very old and likely to fall and 24 apple trees and a good quantity of fruit. The land is chiefly plantable lands and the said apple trees being part of a small orchard at one end of the land.. (Historical interest only). MD LW&P 1739-1747, FHC Film 0013141 Hughet Johnson of St. Mary’s County John Wood of St. Mary’s County on 29 January 1771 had obtained a special warrant for 18 acres. Certificate returned for tract called “Wood’s Commencing (?)”, containing 38 acres. The said Woods died before the year 1786, intestate, leaving his eldest son, Benjamin Wood, entitled to land, which Benjamin Wood by deed duly executed on 20 October 1790, transferred land to Hughet Johnson, who wishes patent to be issued. Ann Peacock – St. Mary’s County Ann Peacock set forth that Paul Peacock of St. Mary’s County had a tract surveyed called “Rackoon (sic) Hill”, 65 ¾ acres. Paul Peacock died intestate, leaving his only children and heirs-at-law: Ann Peacock, Henriettta, who has departed this life, intestate, Mary Peacock, Zachariah Peacock, Dorothy Peacock, who intermarried with Ranard or Randall Campbell, Margaret Peacock who intermarried with Ezekiel Yates and Paul Peacock. Granted 1 May 1820. MD LW&P 1814-1820, FHC film 0013135, page 441. John Price, Jeremiah Price, Nehemiah Price, Richard Price, Ann Tanner - St. Mary’s County Petitioners: Father, John Price, late of St. Mary’s County, 2 August 1771 surveyed and laid out a tract of land called “Price’s Elbow” for 13 acres by virture of warrant for 20 acres. Father died 1790, intestate and land granted to petitioners, his heirs, 15 April 1796 MD LW&P 1792-1795, FHC Film 0013125, page 701. Henry Sewell, Calvert County? Henry Sewell, Esq. 1000 acres by virtue of a special warrant, warrant granted the said Sewell plus 200 acres of land assigned from Benjamin Rogers for transporting himself, Thomas Phillips, Thomas Shivers and Ann Bonniah into Province (St. Mary’s County). 1000 acres to Henry Sewell, after his decease, the …..surrendered up and vacated by Jane Sewell, his widow and relict. Patent to be issued in her name. 1,200 acres granted to Jane Sewall, land called “Mattapenny Swale”, lying and being on the south side of Patuxent River, then in Calvert, now in St. Mary’s County. The said Jane Sewall later intermarried with Charles, then Lord Baltimore and the land later given to Nicholas Sewell, son of Henry. Land in Calvert County, called “Charles Gift”. “Mattapenny Swale” granted unto Nicholas Sewall . 22 October 1722 - Richard Tilghman, seal MD LW&P 1727-1731, FHC Film 0013141. James William Thomas 7th Generation of family founded in Maryland by Thomas Thomas who had warrant for 1000 acres situated on north side of the Pautuxent River, near Buzzard’s Island, March 31, 1656. Succeeded by his son, James Thomas of “Ware”, Charles County, MD, born in England prior to 1651. Will probated November 29, 1701 by first wife, Teratia, had children John and Thomas. Thomas Tracy, adminrix (sic) to estate in St. Mary’s County. SRC: Maryland Will books William Webb of St. Mary’s County Petition of William Webb shows that William Taylor purchased Lot #8, part of West St. Mary’s, 108 acres called “Taylor’s Lott”. Said Taylor died 1794 intestate, leaving as only heirs, children John Taylor, Marit (?) Taylor, George Taylor and Ann Taylor. That Merit/Marit Taylor and John Taylor died soon after, intestate and without issue, leaving George Taylor and Ann Taylor, the only brother and sister. The said Ann Taylor in the month of July 1803 intermarried with the petitioner (William Webb) to whom George Taylor assigned and conveyed all his rights to Ann and William Webb.
