These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ Ann Abell Signed: August 3, 1822 Proved: September 3, 1822 Ann Abell's Last Will & Testament In the Name of God Amen ~ I Ann Abell of Saint Mary's County and State of Maryland, being very Sick and weak, but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, and knowing that it is allotted for us all once to die ~ do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say, principally and first of all ~ I Give and bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me, and my Body to the Earth to be buried in decent and Christian burial at the discression of my Executor hereafter mentiond. ~ Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall recive the same by the Mighty power of God, and as touching my Worldly Wealth, that it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the manner and form following ~~~ Item 1st I Give and bequeath to my two daughters ~ Ann Abell, and Elizabeth Abell, one negroe Boy Called by name Ignatius to be equally divided between them after my death, to them and their heirs for ever ~ Item 2nd ~ My Will is that all the remaining part of my Estate estate should be equally divided Amongst all my Children after my death namely, John Abell, Mary Abell, Ann Abell, Margaret Dillihay, Thomas Abell, William Abell, Elizabeth Abell, James Abell, Joseph Abell and Henry Abell ~ to them and their heirs forever ~ Item 3rd ~ And lastly I nominate and appoint, my son Joseph Abell my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and testament and I do hereby revoke and disannul all other former testaments, legacies and bequests, by me made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, this the third day of August Eighteen Hundred and Twenty two ~~~~~ Ann X Abell (((Seal))) Signd. Then came Joseph Abell and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true and whole last Will and Testament of Ann Abell late of Saint Mary's County, deceased, that hath come to his hands or possession, and that he does not know of any other. ~~~~ Certified by James Forrest Reg. Greenwell and Bennet Hutchins the two Subscribing Witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and testament of Ann Abell late of Saint Mary's County, deceased, and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they did see the Testatrix therein named sign and Seal this Will, and that they heard her publish, pronounce, and declare the same to be her last Will and testament that at the time of her so doing, she was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing, mind, memory and understanding, and that they respectively subscribed their names as Witnesses to this Will in the presence and at the request of the Testatrix and in the presence of each other Certified by James Forrest Reg.
