Abell In the name of God, Amen: I Ann Emily Abell of St. Mary’s County in the State of Maryland being sick and weake in body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to Settle my worldly affaors, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do there fore make and publish this my last will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently burried, at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows: I give and bequeath unto Detlie Spalding the daughter of Emma Spalding and the late John T. Spalding, my gold watch and chain. Item, I give and bequeath unto Louise Spalding, the daughter of Emma Spalding and the late John T. Spalding my silver sugar bowl. Item I give and bequeath unto Lillie Russell the daughter of John and Mollie Russell my Silver Cake Basket. Item. I give and bequeath unto Susan T. Russell the daughter of John and Mollie Russell my set of Silver Table Spoons. Item, I give, bequeath and devise all the rest and residue of my personal Estate, and all my Real Estate consisting of a house and lot in Leonardtown, St. Mary’s County, Maryland, to Danl. C. Hammett, in trust, for the use and benefit of my Sister Mary Eliza Spalding, for and during her natural life, with power and authority to him the said Danl. C. Hammett to manage the said property I such manner as he may deem best for the interest and welfare of the said Mary Eliza Spalding, so long as she may live, a due retard being also had to the repair and preservation of the dwelling house and other building on the said lot of ground, so far as the money property coming unto his hands under the provisions of this will during the lifetime of the said Mary Eliza Spalding, will justify the same, and at and from the death of the said Mary Eliza Spalding the said trust shall terminate, and at and after her death it is my will and desire and I hereby direct that my executor hereinafter named shall sell all of my aforesaid property, both real and personal, and power and authority are hereby given to him to sell the same and after all the necessary ad legal costs attending the proper administration and Settlement of my Estate, both real and personal, and the money expended for repairs as aforesaid, and all the other charges and expenses hereinafter named shall and specified, are deducted and taken from out it is my will and desire and I hereby direct that my Executor hereinafter named shall pay over the balance then remaining in his hands from the sale of the real and personal Estate aforesaid to Charles H. Huchemer, agent of the Corporation of the Roman Catholic Clergymen of Maryland, or his Successor, the said amount to be applied in equal portions to the support and maintenance of St. Aloyouis Church in Leonardtown St. Mary’s County Maryland, and of St. Joseph’s Church at Morganza in said County and State, and to be expended at such times and in such manner as may be most conducive to the best interest and welfare of the said Churches. It is further my will and desire and I hereby direct, that should my sister Mary Eliza Spalding, at the time of her death not have sufficient money of her own to bury her, that she shall be decently burried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and that he shall have one funeral Mass said for the repose of her soul, which amounts thus expended shall be deducted from the proceeds of the sales of the property aforesaid, before the balance is distributed and paid over as herein directed. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Danl C. Hammett of Leonardtown, Maryland to be Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and testament, In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand and seal this Third day of February, in the year Eighteen hundred and ninety three. Foxwell subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last Will & Testament of Ann E. Abell late of said County, deceased, and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that they did see the Testatrix, sign and seal this will, that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and Testament, that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing, mind memory and understanding, and that they together with Danl C. Hammett subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in the presence at request of the Testatrix and in the presence of each other. Certified By Philip H. Abell late of St Mary’s County deceased and also the evidence adduced as to its validity, Orders and decrees this 23rd day of May A.D. 1893, that the same be admitted in this Court as the true and genuine last Will and Testament of the said Ann E.
