A formatted version can be Viewed at http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/stmary/wills/howard-w.pdf William Howard (d.1730) Will St. Mary’s County MD Maryland Hall of Records Liber 20, folio 130 (Microfilm SR4414-1) Written 16 August 1729 Proved 24 November 1730 In the Name of God Amen I William Howard Senr Planter in St Marys County in the Province of Maryland being weak of Body but of perfect memory and Understanding blessed be God for it & Calling to Mind the Shortness of this Mortal Life since it has pleased God that all Men are born to die Do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in Manner Form as follows First & principally I recommend my Soul into the Hands of the Almighty God who gave it me hopeing through the Merrits of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have pardon & remission of all my Sins and as touching my worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and dispose as followeth First I will that all my debts & Funeral Charges be paid and discharged and my Body to be buried in a Comely decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my lawful Son William Howard one Shilling Sterl: and no more Item I give and bequeath unto my lawful Son Thomas Howard one Shilling Sterling and no more. Item I give and bequeath unto my lawful Son Peter Howard the Tract of Land where I now live known & called by the Name of Trittnam(?) to him and his Heires lawfully begotten and if my said Son Peter Howard should die without Heires Lawfully begotten, then it shall fall to my Lawful Son James Howard and his Heires lawfully begotten Also I give & bequeath to my afores{d} Peter one feather Bed & furniture and also what is left after my loving Wifes decease & also I give & bequeath unto my lawful Son Thomas Howard one Shilling Ster: and no more Item I give and bequeath to my lawful Son James Howard the feather bed and Furniture and one Iron Pot and one Heifer and no more Item I give unto my Son John Howard one feather bed and furniture and one Heifer Item I give and bequeath to my lawful Daughter Rachel Ford one Shilling Sterling and no more Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Dartt one Shilling Sterling and no more Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret Sheinks one Shill Sterling and no more Item I will & ordain my loving and lawful Wife Mary Howard my whole & Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament disannulling & making Void all Will or form of Wills heretofore made by me as Witness hereunto I set my Hand and affix my Seale this being the 16{th} Day of August Anno Dom 1729 William (his mark) Howard (Seal) In the Presence of these Wittnesses Robert Land, John (his Mark) Shurtliff, Peter Shurtliff On the Back of the aforegoing Will was this written Vizt November y{e} 24{th} 1730 Then came Robert Land and John Shurtliff two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Will & made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they saw the Testator William Howard Sign & Seale heard him publish & declare the same ass his last Will & Testament and that at the Time of his so doing he was to the best of their knowledge & apprehension of sound and disposing Mind & Memory and that they the aforesd Robert Land and John Shurtliff as Witnessed did Subscribe the aforesaid Will in the Presence of the said Testator & that they saw Peter Shurliff Sign y{e} foregoing Will at the Same Time & in the Presence of the said Testator.
