Will of John Evans: MARYLAND STATE ARCHIVES, HALL OF RECORDS, ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND PREROGATIVE COURT (WILLS) 11, PAGES 71 AND 72 (MSA SR 4405) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I John Evans of St Mary's City being weake in body but sound in mind doe make and declare my last Will and Testament as followeth I bequeath my soule to God that gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came and as for my Lands I give and dispose as followeth I give my Land in Pocomoke in Somersett County to my wife and Mr William Asquith and there Heirs to be Sold with all convenient speed for the payment of my Just debts... Item I give unto my eldest son Phillip and his Heires my Plantation and Land that was my Brother Anthony's upon this condition that he or they pay unto my three Younger Children as they Arrive to the Age of One and Twenty the two Boy's and the Girle Eighteen Three Thousand three hundred pounds of Tobacco a peice and if any dye the Survivor or Survivors to have the part of him her or them that shall decease to be paid at the age aforesaid and if all dye Phillip to have it cleare... Item as to my personall Estate after my Just debts paid I give and leave to and amongst my Wife and three youngest Children to be divided according to Law my House and Land in St Mary's I give Will and dispose to my loveing wife for to be the better to enable her to bring up my Children and I make her full and Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seale this Eighteenth day of September One Thousand Seven hundred...
