Will of Joseph WILLIAMS, son of William WILLIAMS: COPY OF LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOSEPH WILLIAMS, DECEASED PRESENTED TO MARYLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY BY MISS JOSEPHINE SLAGLE ON 2 MARCH 1936 The Last Will of ) Joseph Williams ) In the name of God, Amen. February the 17th 1780. I, Joseph Williams of Saint Mary's County, in the Province of Maryland, and being weak of body but of sound and perfect sence and memory, thanks be to God, do make this my last will and Testament: first, I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, and my body to the Earth, to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named: and as to my Worldly Estate, I give and bequeath as follows.- Item I give and bequeath unto my loving son William Williams and the one my wife is now with child with, if it should be a boy, all the land I am now in possession of, or have any claim to, to be equally divided between them, if the child my wife now goes with should be a girl, eighty acres of the above mentioned land to be equally divided her and my other three daughters, Mary Williams, Elisabeth Williams and Ann Williams, to them and their heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, four negro's vizt Watt, Iwo, Hannah's and Prudence, also one-third part of my stock and household furniture, to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my three daughters above mentioned Mary, Elisabeth and Ann Williams, and the child my wife now goes with, if a girl, the following negro's, to wit: Sarah, Nell, Barton, Charles, Henry, Jane, Bett, Lettice, Little Nell and Rafe, also the remaining part of my stock, and household furniture, to them and theirs heirs forever. Item I constitute, make and ordain my loving wife and Brother James Williams to be joint executors of this my last will and Testament. Lastly, I do hereby utterly revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments, wills Legacies, bequeath and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and Testament.
