I Elizabeth Medley of St. Mary's County, in the Province of Maryland being Sick & weak of body but of Sound and disposing mind mind & understanding, Considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to Settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it Shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make & publish this my last will & Testament in manner and form following that is to Say ~~ First & principally I commit my Soul into the hands of almighty God, and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named, and after my Just debts are paid I devise & bequeath as follows ~~ Item, I give & bequeath unto the Revd. John Boarman Eight pounds Seven & Six pence to Say Masses for me after my decease ~~ Item, I give and bequeath unto the Teod. Augustin Jenkins one Guinia to Say Masses for me after my decease ~~ Item, I give & bequeath unto Robert Wimsatt and his brother William Wimsatt all the Tob.o that is due me for the rent of my Land and for the hire of my negro fellow Charles after they have paid the Doctors accounts to them & their heirs forever ~~ Item I give and bequeath unto Monica Paine, one pair of Silver Shoe buckles to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto Sarah Clarke, one gold ring to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto Mary Jarboe, one striped cotton Short gound, & petticoat, one of my best Shifts, two of my best linnen caps, & one black Silk handkerchief, to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Wooten one blue & white Stript Cotton short gownd to her forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto Ann Wimsatt one negro man called Charles, one Bed and furniture that I now ly on, one Table, one Desk one arm Chair, to her and her heirs forever ~~ Item, I give and bequeath unto Prissy Wimsatt, one Trunk, one green chair, one horse bridle & saddle, one Safegard, one Scarlet Cloak, & one white Marsailes petticoat, to her and her heirs forever ~~ likewise one Stampt Cotton gound, & one Bed & furniture, to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto Ann Jarboe & Mary Jarboe two books, And lastly, I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Nephew Robert Wimsatt before mentioned to be my Sole Executor of this my last will & Testament, revoking & annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will and Testament, In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & affixed my Seal this 19th day of January 1794 ~~~ Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Elizabeth X Medley (((Seal))) My will is that the residue of my Estate Shall be devided between Ann Wimsatt & Prissy Wimsatt, after Ann Wimsatt gets as many as is willed to Prissy ~~~ John Greenwell Junr. Rich. Edelen On the back of the aforegoing, was as follows, towit. Saint Mary's County, towit, the 11th day of March 1794. Then came Robert Wimsatt, & made oath on the holy evangels of almighty god, that the aforegoing instrument of writing, is the true & whole will & Testament of Elizabeth Medley late of Saint Mary's County, deceased, that hath come to his hands or possession, & that he doth not know of any other. And Richard Edelen, the two Subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will & Testament of Elizabeth Medley, late, of Saint Mary's County, deceased and Severally made Oath on the holy evangels of almighty God, that they did See the Testatrix herein named, Sign and Seal this will and that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the Same to be her last will and Testament, that at the time of her sodoing, she was to the best of their apprehensions, of Sound and disposing mind memory, and understanding; and that they respectively Subscribed their names as witnesses to this will, in the presence and at the request of the testatrix, and in the presence of each other.
