WILL AND TESTAMENT ANN MORGAN 4 November 1741 In the name of God, Amen-I Ann Morgan of Saint Mary's County the state of Maryland being in health of body and of sound mind, memory and understanding considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit: First and principally, I commend my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be decently buried and after my just debts and funeral charges are paid, I give, devise and bequeath as follows- I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Sophia D. Cheseldine my plantation called Collinswood where W. Robert Tippett now lives to her and her heirs forever- I give and bequeath to my said Daughter Sophia D. Chiseldine the following. Negroes: Nehemiah Bond Edward Whitlock and Sarah Ann to her and her heris forever- I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sophia Amanda Lyon my Negro boy George __?__to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Johanna Chiseldine my Negro boy Charles to her and her heirs forever- I hereby con--?-and appoint Sophia D. Chiselidine Executrix of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all former will or wills by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of Nov. in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine. Ann (x) Morgan Signed, sealed, and published and declared by the above named Ann Morgan as one for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnessed thereto the 4th day of Nov in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine. Wm. I Blackistone, Morris Shanks, John R.T.Tarlton. Saint Mary's count to wit the 2nd day of Feb., 1841. The last will and testament of Ann Morgan Late of saint Mary's deceased, being this day in the recess of the Orphans Court exhibited to me for probate, and William Allaston who married Sophia D. Cheseldine only daughter of the decease, attending and assenting thereto, and no a---? Or objection being made thereto by any person whatsoever, I George Combs register of Wills for St. Mary's County processed to take the probate thereto accordingly; Certified by George Combs Reg. of Wills for St. Mary's County. Morris Shanks and John H.T.Tarlton came to court to swear that they witnessed the signature of Ann Morgan on her Last Will and Testament. NOTE: (there are several things to note: The name Cheseldine is misspelled throughout, the name Allston is misspelled. There were words impossible to read, but no many.
