Will of Seneca Cheseldine #2, 1816


In the name of God Amen. I, Seneca Cheseldine of St. Mary's Co. in the state of Maryland being of 
sound mind, memory and understanding concerning the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the 
time thereof and being desirous to settle my earthly affairs and thereby, to be the better 
prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me home, do therefore make and 
publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following when it shall please God 
shall please to call me home, do therefore make and  publish this my last will and testament in 
manner and form following ,that is to say.

First, and principally, I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth 
to be decently buried at the direction of my executor, herein after named and after my debts and 
funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath to my son Kenelm Cheseldine, this plantation 
called White's Neck whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever with all the negroes, Rock 
house lots and kitchen furniture and all the plantation _?__that may belong to same.  My further 
wish and desire that my said son, Kenelm Cheseldine, shall keep my daughter, Chloe, with him as 
long as she may live---- my further wish and desire that my son, Kenelm shall keep together the 
rest of my children and do the best he can until the boys is able to be bound to whatever trade 
he may think most proper, and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Kenelm Cheseldine 
to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills 
made by me heretofore ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament.  
In testimony whereof I have herewith put my hand and affix my seale this Twelfth Day of June in 
the year of our Lord 1816.

( I have in my possession copies of both wills belonging to Seneca Cheseldine which were found by 
the St. Mary's Co. Clerk of Courts.  I have typed these omitting only two word which I could not 
read.
