Additional Comments: My ancestor, John Newnam, an indentured servant of Edward Lloyd, first appeared in Provincial Court Proceedings, Dec. 1662, seeking his freedom, having completed his indenture contract. Court granted his request. Under Maryland's "Conditions of Plantation", John Newnam was entitled to this warrent for 200 acres of land- 50 acres each for "himself, his wife Joan, a fist wife Francis Richason(deceased?)", and presumeably a child.( His wives are named in a "Disclaimer" in Maryland Patents, Certificates, and Warrants, No. 12, FF 443, p.391, which mistakenly records Joan as his "first" wife- obviously a mistake because "John Newnam and Joan, his wife", appear as signers of numerous deed conveyences from 1665 through 1700. "John Newnam and Joan, his wife," promptly sold (conveyed) deed to 150 acres of Newanm's Lott to John Newell on 14 Aug 1665, perhaps because he did not yet have the means to pay the annual "Rent", clear, and begin to plant all this wooded land.
