A formatted version can be Viewed at http://usgenweb.org/md/talbot/wills/gibson-j.pdf Name on will: Jacob Gibson Date written: April 7, 1741 Date recorded: June 10, 1741 Source of record: Prerogative Court (Wills) MSA S538, Liber 22, pp. 362-363 362._ _ In the Name of God Amen the Seventh Day of April Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred & forty one I Jacob Gibson of Talbot County in the Province of Maryland Gentleman being Weak in Body but of Sound mind and memory (praise be given to God for the same) do make and ordain this my present last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to Say first and Principally I Commend my Soul into the Hands of almighty God my Creator, hoping through the Meritorious Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my Savior to Receive free Pardon & Remission of all my Sins & to Inherit everlasting Life and my Body I commit to the Ground to be Decently Buried at y{e} Discretion of any Ex{r} hereafter named and as all Such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I Give Bequeath & Devise in manner following and first I will that my Debts & Funeral Charges be paid and Discharged. Imprimis I Give and bequeath unto my Dutifull & well beloved Daughter Barbara Gibson One Negro boy Called Lambeth and a Negro Girl Called Chloe and also one hundred pounds Current money of the Province of Maryland to her use and behoof forever also her own Feather Bed & in full of her Portion. It. I Give and bequeath unto my Disobedient and Stuborn Son Richard Gibson one Shilling Sterling & my Will is that the said Shilling Shall cut him off and Debar him from any farther Claim of my Estate Real & Personal. It. I Give and bequeath unto my three Grand Children William Price and Sophia Price and Wollman Sutton Each of them five Pound Currency as a Legacy. It. I Give and bequeath unto my Loving Son Wollman Gibson all my Lands Tenem{ts} and Hereditam{ts} w{ch} I have any Title Claim or Property in or to in Maryland or Elsewhere (being) 363._ _being any Part or Parcel of my Real Estate and the Male Heir or Heirs of his Body Lawfully Begotten and to be bequeathed to him them or any of them at his Discretion Provided always and be it rembered y{t} the above Devised Lands and Tenem{ts} bequeathed to my said Son Wollman Gibson and to Male Heirs of his Body Lawfully begotten shall remain Continue Descend and be in the Name of Gibson so Long as any Legitimate Heir or Heirs Male appears without Selling Exchangeing or Disposing of the Same to any Persons whatsoever and so to Continue forever But failing of Such Legitimate Male Heir of the said Gibsons then my Will is that the said Lands Descend to the nearest Female Heir of the said Gibson or Gibsons forever and not otherwise. Item all the Rest and Revisions of my Personal Estate Goods & Chattels I Give and bequeath to my Within Named Son Wollman Gibson and to my Daughters Sophia Sutton and Rachel Gulley to be Equally Divided amongst them. Lastly I make Constitute and appoint my said Loving Son Wollman Gibson full and Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament Revoking and Disannulling all former or Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal y{e} Day & Year within Written Signed Sealed Published Pronounced and Declared to be my Last Will and Testament in presence of __ Jacob Gibson [seal] W{m} Rakes John Kininmont On the foot of the aforegoing Will is thus Written Viz{t} his Peter X Pinkstone mark Talb{t} County sc{t} William Rakes John Kininmont and Peter Pinkstone the Subscribing Witnesses the the foregoing Will being Duly & Solemnly Sworn upon the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, Depose and Say that they Saw the Testator Jacob Gibson Sign & Seal the said Will and heard him Publish and Declare the Same to be his Last Will & Testament that at the time of his so doing was to the Best of their Apprehension of these Deponents of Sound and Disposing mind and Memory and that they Subscribed their Respective Names as Witnesses to the same Will in the Presence of the Same 7 Sides_ Testator and at his Request Before me the Subscriber this Tenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred & forty one.
