Luther F. Burkhart, a well known farmer and fruit grower, three-fourths of a 
mile north of Cavetown, died at 12 p.m., Tuesday of catarrh of the stomach, 
after a lingering illness in which his death had been daily expected, aged 
67years.  He had been ill since last spring but was contained to his bed for 
only two weeks.  He was an active church member and served at times as deacon 
and elder in the Lutheran Chruch, Smithsburg.  He was a Republican.  He married 
a Miss Krouse, near Cavetown.  Surviving are his wife, children, Mrs. Wm. 
Hollingsworth, Joseph, Smithsburg; Mrs. Elia Cavetown; Keller, at home, sisters, 
Mrs. Caroline Houser, Mrs. Kate Sites, Cavetown.  Funeral Friday, leave the 
house at 10 a. m., services in the Lutheran Church.  Smithsburg, interment in 
the Smithsburg Cemetery.
