Mrs. Ella M. Smith
  Mrs. Ella M. Smith, aged 57, widow of Lester Smith of Mt. Lena, died at the Washington
County Hospital Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. of complications.  She had been ill one week.
  Born in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of Mrs. Hattie Yost of Clear Spring and the
late William Yost.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren Church of
Mt. Lena and had been employed by the Maryland Ribbon Company in Hagerstown.
  Surviving besides her mother are daughters Mrs. Helen Moser, Mrs. Mildred Gladhill,
Mrs. Marie Palmer, all of Mt. Lena, and Mrs. Evelyn Lescaleet of Mapleville; eleven
grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Mary Daley, Hagerstown; Mrs. Emma King, St. Pauls; Mrs.
Ruth Shaw, Cabin John, Maryland; and brother, Raymond Yost of Clear Spring.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Otterbein United Brethren Church at
Mt. Lena at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Daniel Rosenberger officiating.  Interment will be in Mt.
Lena Cemetery.
  The family will receive friends at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro on Thursday
and Friday evenings.  The body will lie in state one hour at the church before services.

Ella Magdalene Yost Smith was born on Oct 26, 1902 to James William and Hattie Magdalene 
Snyder Yost.  Ella’s husband was  Lester William Smith born march 1, 1896 died Oct 11 1951
