I, Thomas Meek of Washington County, and province of Maryland, Farmer, being in my perfect health and of sound memory, blessed be God, but calling to Remembrance the Morality of my Body, and that it is appointed for all Men once to Die do this Twenty ninth day of October One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy-six make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the form and manner following, viz. First of all I give and recommend my Soul to Almighty God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at discretion of my Executors hereafter named not doubting but at the eneral Resurrection I shall receive it again by the mighty power of God. And as touching my Worldly Estate it hath please God to bless me with far above my deserts, I do will and dispose of the same form and manner following. And first of all I will and allow all my just debts be paid and discharged by my Executors then I give and bequeath unto Ann my dear wife my Negroes Patt, Fanny and George during her widowhood and in case she marries she is to have the one third of them during her lifetime also she is to have one third of my movables and if she chooses during her widowhood to go and live at my place at Holstein {Holsten?, VA} she may have the privilege of renting the place where where I now live on and have the rents and profits of it to herself. Also I give unto my eldest son William Fifty pounds Pennsylvania money to be paid out of my Estate at the end of two years or if my Exr's choose to keep the said fifty pounds three years, they may on paying him interest. As also Fifty acres of land called Pleasant Hill which was purchased out of my Fathers Effects he leaving no Will, neither did any person administer lawfully thereon/ likewise he is to have two coats and two jackets of the best of my Wearing apperall. Also I give unto my Oldest Daughter Jane the sum of One hundred pounds lawfull money of Pennsylvania to be paid out of my Estate within two years after my decease or within three years on paying interest thereon. I also give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rebeccah the sum of One hundred pounds lawfull money of Pennsylvania to be paid out of my Estate and paid unto her after the decease of her present husband William Ling {Long?}, but if he should out survive, it shall be equally divided between her children as they come of age. Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Margaret the sum of Fifty pounds of Pennsylvania to be paid out of my Estate in two years after my decease or within three years paying interest for one year. Also I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas the sum of One hundred and twenty pounds Pennsylvania money to be paid unto him as he stands in need of it, for his learning likewise a Horse to the value of twenty pounds like money or if he chooses Clothing to the value of the Horse he is to have it in lieu thereof. Also I give unto my son David the sum of Fifty Pounds to paid him by my Exr's, as soon as the place he now lives on is sold. Also I give unto my son Samuel if he (lives to come Home from the Army) the Plantation I now live upon, after his mothers decease and if he does not behave himself orderly I desire that he may be corrected and bound out at the discretion of my Executors. Also I give to my son Alexander a Tract of land called Mulla's Delight also that part of Needwood that is next to Pennsylvania. Also I give unto my son Isaac a Tract of land containing Three hundred and fifty acres lying in upon Cedar Creek. Also he is to have Seven Pounds Ten Shillings Virginia money to pay for the Deed of the said place. Also I do will and order that the Negro boy George be equally divided between my youngest sons Alexander and Isaac after their mothers decease. Also I do will and ordain that if either of my Sons should die under age that their parts of the legacy shall be divided amongst the rest of my sons and Margaret. Also a Tract of land called Needwood the lower end of it between where I now live and Boyds place to be sold at the discretion of my Executors and the said land is to be rented out till it is sold and the prices thereof to be apply'd towards paying off the legacy's. Also Alexanders place is to be rented out till such time as he comes of age. Also I desire if Alexander and Isaac or either of them be disobedient to their mother and will not bear correction that they be bound to Trades. All that remains of the moveables after paying the legacies and Discharging my debts I give and bequeath the remainder to be equally divided between my Sons and Daughter Margaret likewise a vendue to be made for to sell such things as my Execrs. Shall see cause of the moveables Except the Negros for to pay for Thomas' Learning. I also appoint my Wife and my son Thomas executors of this my Last Will and Testament by me before confirmed and made and acknowledged this only and none other to be my last Will and Testament.
