These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ WILL OF CHRISTIAN ORNDORFF In the name of God, Amen, I, Christian Orndorff, Sr. of Washington County and State of Maryland caling to mind the uncertainty of mortal life, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and wishing to dispose of and settle what worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say First I order that my Just Debts if any and my funeral charges to be paid by my Executors. As I have already advanced and paid my sons Christopher, Christian and Henry there full proportions of Legacy in Lands, my will is that they are not to draw any further or part of my Estate. Whereas I have already given Each of my Daughters Peggy, Elizabeth and Mary Fifty pounds Each towards there Legacie and my Daughter Catherine One hundred and forty pounds and have paid my Daughter Barbara a Negro Girl to the amount of Fifty pounds in part of her Legacie, I will and order that my Daughter Rose shall Draw fifty pounds out of my Estate to make her equal with the rest. I give and bequeth unto my well beloved Wife Elizabeth during her widowhood one third of the plantation whereon I now live and the back room in my new dwelling house, and all my household furniture and all kind of Stock that I may have, and my Son Jacob his heirs or assignies to Cut and Hall all the firewood free, without making any Charge whatever, my well beloved Wife and her Mother Elizabeth Cophaver shall want or make use of during the life of the said Elizabeth Cophaver but if my well beloved Wife should Marie again that then she is to leave the whole of the Above Estates and plantation, and my Son Jacob to pay her one hundred pounds and she to Acquit the plantation. I likewise give to my Wife during her widowhood my two negros Harry and Pheba she to do with them as she thinks proper. I Will that my Wife's Mother shall live peaceable and unmolested from any person in the home wherein she now lives during her life. I give and bequeth unto my well beloved Son Jacob his heirs and Assigns the whole of the plantation whereon I now live with all the appertainaninces there unto belonging free and Clear Except my wifes thirds as above mentioned and to pay to my executors for the use of my six Daughters one thousand pounds Current money in the following manner (to wit) One year after my Decease one hundred pounds and so yearly, One hundred pounds until the one thousand pounds is paid, and my son Jacob to give security for the money if required by my Executors. I give and bequeth unto my well beloved Son John his heirs and asigns forever the Plantation lying on Potomac River which I lately purchased of my Son Henry. Agreeable to the Deed I have for said Land he the said John his heirs or Assigns to pay with in one year after my Decease to his Mother the sum of Forty pounds in Consideration of said place, but if his Mother should decease before the money is paid that then my Son to pay the money to his Grandmother Elizabeth Cophaver. I also Will and order that all my personal Estate whioch is not heretofore will Away with the two Lots I hold in the City of Washington to be sold at the best advantage my Executors Can and the whole of the money Arising out of my Estate that each One shall with what they have already got draw One hundred and forty pounds to make them Equal with my Daughter Catherine Rohrer, and after they have all an equal share than my Will is that each one shall draw an equal share of money as my Executors Can Receive it out of my Whole Estate that is to say Each of them to draw at one time equally. I Will and order that if Elizabeth Cophaver should live longer than my wife that after the Death of my Wife my Son Jacob his heirs or Assigns to pay and deliver to his Grandmother Every year twelve Bushels of Good Wheat and one hundred pound of good sound beef and pork during her life. I nominate and Appoint my Well beloved Wife Elizabeth my well beloved Son Henry and my Son in Law Jonathan Hager whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this twenty Eight day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and ninety five.
