I, George Stein a resident farmer of Washington County, State of Maryland, though weak in body, yet of sound understanding memory and judgment, in consideration of the uncertainty of this transient life, have thought proper to make my last will and testament in the following manner: - That is to say First. I command my immortal soul to the protection of God amd my body I surrender to the ground. And with respect to the worldly goods and property with which it has pleased the Almighty to bless me. I ordain, therefore, as follows, to wit: First - It is my will that my actual debts and my funeral expenses, from my herein after named executors, as soon as it can be done, be paid out of my ready property, and that as soon as practicable after my death a faithful inventory of my household furniture and goods, outstanding debts and other movables(sic) be made which goods and property shall remain in the hands of my beloved wife Catharine as long as she lives. Furthermore in this my will, that when my wife, before named stands in need of money, my son Nicholas shall furnish her therewith as often as she is in want of it. Futhermore is this my will - that my wife Catharine shall keep the house and land where I at present live as long as she lives; to wit: - Twenty five acres and three quarters, more or less which she may rent out if she chuses(sic). Further is this my will, that after the death of us both all my movable and immovable property shall be sold from the aforementioned executors, and to be divided in equal parts among my seven children Bernhard(sic), Nicholas, Philip, George, Margaritha, Elizabeth and Maria, - Futhermore in this my will, that my two daughters Elizabeth and Maria each shall have five pounds in advance, and I bequeath herewith all my property and reversion, to my seven children, Bernhard, Nicholas, philip, George, Margaritha, Elizabeth and Maria, and I authorise(sic) my executors to sell herewith my moveable and immoveable property either at public or private sale and to give good deeds for the same; and I appoint herewith my beloved friends John Rohrer, my brother-in-law, and Christian Wyand's son-in-law Jacob Schneider to be executors of my last will and testament. In witness whereof have I George Stein, testator, it with my own hand signed and sealed. - Done the 17th of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Signed, sealed, made known and acknowledged from George Stein, the testator as his last will and testament, in the presence of us who at his request, and in the presence of every one have our manner as witnesses hereto underwritten. John Keplinger, John Schmidt(in Ger.) all Washington County, to wit, - On this 7th of Sept. 1816 came John Rohrer and made oath that this is the true and whole will of George Stine late of said County deceased that hath come to his hands and possession and that he does not know of any other. At the same time came John Longman, Senr., John Keplinger and John Schmidt and made oath that they did see the testator herein named sign and seal this will, that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, that they subscribed their names as witnsses to this will in the presence and at the request of the testator and in the presence of each other. Sworn before ------ Geo. C. Smoot. Reg. Washington County to wit: - On the 8th day of Sept. 1846(sic) came Jacob Snyder and made oath & that this is the true and whole will of George Stein late of said County deceased that has has(sic) come to his sight or knowledge and that he does not know nor has heard of any other.
