I Leonard Streight of Bernards Township in the County of Somerset and province of New Jersie. Being in Perfect Health of Body and of Perfect Mind and Memmory thanks be Given unto God therefore Calling unto Mind the Mortallity of my body and Knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Dye do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I Give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian Like Manner at the Discretion of My Executors Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I Shall Recive the Same Again By the Mighty Power of God and as touching Such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased god to Bless me in this Life I Give Devise and Dispose of the Same in the following Manner and form. Impremis. It is my will and I do order that my Dear and Loving wife Elisabeth Shall have all and singular the Goods and furniture which She had when I Married her Viz. That is to Say her Negro wench Desk and her Bed and Beding and the Sum of ten Pounds in Money To be paid out of my Estate. Item. I Give and Bequeath unto My Chilldren here in after Named as follows. That is to Say. unto My Eldest Son Christian Stright, Lowrance Streight Leonard Streight and William Streight and my Daughter Margret Stright Married to the reverend George Young as allso to my Last Tow Chilldren Which I have by my Last wife Elizabeth Named Sarah and the Son Named Jacob all my Chilldren before mentioned to Share Equall of my Estate all to be Converted in to money and to be Equally Devided as aforesaid. Only that it is my will and I do Order that my Tow Youngest Chilldren Sarrah and Jacob Should be Supported and Brought up out of My Estate untill the Shall be able to Git a Living for themselves & further it is my will that My Daughter Sally Shall have a Sett of Silver handled Knifes & forks which I am Now Posesed of for by her Devidind ---------- Lastly. I ordain Constitute and Appoint my Trusty and Loving frends the Reverend George Young Daniel Castner and my Son Leonard Stright to be my Sole and Only Executors of this my Last will and Testatment and I do hereby utterly Disallow revoake and Disanull all and Every Other former Testaments wills Legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this Time Time Named willed & Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no Other to be my Last will and Testament. Then came George Young & Leonard Stright & made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that the aforegoing is the true & whole Will & Testament of Leonard Stright that hath come to their hands & possession & that they do not know of any Other — Certified by Thomas Belt Rg. I further certify that Elizabeth Stright the widow of the Deceased were present at the time the above probate was taken & that she did not object to the taking of the same. Stephanie (Stright) Hill] Although the will was written while he still lived in Someret County, NJ, Leonard Stright died in Washington County, MD at the home of his son, also named Leonard Stright, a blacksmith who lived in Hagerstown.
