All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* Abraham Troxell’s Will Washington Co., MD Bk A p 128, 129 In the name of God Amen, the __day of Jany [January] in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty five, I, Abraham Troxel of Washington County State of Maryland, Yeoman, being very aged and weak but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Primus It is my Will and I do order that in the first place all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges be paid and Satisfied Item I give and Bequeath unto Catharina my Dearly beloved wife her Lawful third part during her life time with all my Household Goods and moveables Item I give to my well beloved Son David Two Portions of my Estate and my five Daughters Namely the Oldest Catharina, the second Magdalena, the third Anna, the fourth Susana, and the fifth Salom to Each One portion and he my Son David shall pay thereof when they Come to their Age. And further and Lastly I Constitute make and Ordain to my only and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament my well beloved friend John Cellar Justice of the peace and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and dismiss all and every other former Testaments Wills and Legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this time named Willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day year above written Abraham Troxell Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Abraham Troxel as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers [ names of the witnesses were omitted here but are later named as Charles Scheibele, Leonard Phifer and John Wetzstein. ] I do hereby certify that the appointed Executor in the last Will and Testament of Abraham Troxel late of said County deceased came personally before me and refused to act as Executor to said Will by virtue of such appointment I do therefore renounce all his right title and claim to said Executorship According Certified by Thomas Belt Regr Washington County Ss March 30th 1786 Then came Catharina Troxel and David Troxel and made oath that the within Instrument of Writing is the true and whole Will and Testament of Abraham Troxell late of said county deceased that hath come to their hands or possession and that they do not know of any other And at the same time came Charles Scheibele and Leonard Phifer two of the subscribing Witnesses to the within last Will and Testament of Abraham Troxel late of said County deceased and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator herein named sign and seal this Will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in the presence and at the request of the testator and in the presence of each other and that they saw John Wetzstein do the same Certified by Thomas Belt regr.
