In around 1694, a log church building was constructed here, replaced in 1733 with the current brick building, which stands a little bit back off of Green Hill Church Road, where the road takes a turn to a north-south direction from a northwest-southeasterly direction, just southeast of Whitehaven Road, and right on the banks of the north branch of the Wicomico River. The graveyard, located right next to the church building, is in very good condition. The grounds are maintained, and though there are no regular services conducted here, the church is reopened every year in August for the annual St. Bartholomew's Day celebration and worship service. Three local Episcopal churches participate in this service: St. Mary's in Tyaskin, St. Phillip's in Quantico, and St. Paul's in Salisbury. In the cemetery, a few of the markers have fallen over, and time and weather have all but erased the markings. I have consulted John Jacobs' "Graveyards and Gravestones of Wicomico" to get the missing information. Also, it is interesting to note that the cemetery apparantly was once much larger, with many graves close to the river banks. Over the centuries, the banks have eroded, and the graves washed away. This cemetery listing was obtained on Sunday, August 3, 1997 by Shari Handley, Jill Pevear, Chris Pevear, Robert Simms, and Paul Willing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Benjamin F.
