This was 19 years after Covington had quit (and simultaneously been excommunicated from) the Episcopal Church's Stepney Parish. For more on this incident, see Trouble In Old Stepney Parish at . The land upon which Mezick's Church was built was a portion of a tract of land called "Spry" (or "Spy"), patented in 1794 by Covington Mezick and his cousin, Elihu Mezick. The church building was built around 1825. The gravestones and grounds are maintained in excellent condition. This cemetery listing was obtained on Sunday, August 3, 1997 by Shari Handley, Jill Pevear, Chris Pevear, Robert Simms, and Paul Willing. Hilda M.
