This was the third Buckingham Church which was destroyed January 18, 1857. The first of the five churches was located south of Buckingham Cemetery. The next two churches were built on the grounds of the present Buckingham Cemetery. The fourth church on South Main Street was burned in the disastrous fire of October 1, 1904 which destroyed many homes and businesses in Berlin. The present church now stands on the site of the one burned in the fire of 1904. This monument is dedicated to the glory of God and to all the faithful members, past present and future who have made possible the existence of the five Buckingham Presbyterian Churches. This monument was erected through the generosity of Thomas G. and Doris T. Hanley.
