The Maryland Land Warrents and Patents were researched primarily for information 
concerning the Tracy/Tracey family of Maryland.  Most of the surnames researched 
are associated with this family either by marriage or land ownership.  Other 
surnames are recorded because of the listing of heirs if the ancestor died 
intestate.

John Pope Mitchell – Worcester County

Isaac Mitchell, John Mitchell, Mary Mitchell petitioned that their father John 
Pope Mitchell, Worcester County, deceased intestate, had land called “Mitchell’s 
Lott”, 13 acres.  He left the following children:  Robert Mitchell, Eloisa G. P. 
Mitchell, Isaac Mitchell, John Mitchell, Rufus Mitchell and Mary Mitchell, that 
Robert, Eloisa G. P. and Rufus died intestate and without heirs and that Rufus 
left a widow, who it was believed is still living.  Granted 1825 ?

John Patrick of Worcester County

A certain John Patrick, the petitioner’s father, had on 14 October 1721 a tract 
of land called “Patrick’s Lott”, formerly in Somerset County, but now in 
Worcester County on the west side of Assateague Bay, 100 acres.  Before the 
grant was given, John Patrick, the petitioner’s father, died intestate and the 
land devised to his only son and heir, John Patick.
