MARYLAND 1773 In the name of God Amen on the fourteenth day of May, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Three, I William Davis, being sick and weak of body but of perfect memory and sence, thanks be given unto God, therefore. Calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, principally, that is to say and first of all Igive my soul onto God that gave it and for my body I leave it for the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner according to the decisions of my executors and for all my worldly goods it both pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. _________It is my will and I do appoint my wife and son son, Robert, to be my only and sole Executors of this my last will and testament. Item I give to my son Robert the south end of my Plantation beginning at the great walnut tree running west to Truitts Line from the same walnut tree East to Jones line to him and his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give unto my cousin Henry Davis fifty acres of land on the North side of the deep branch to him the said Henry and his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give unto my son Nixon the remainder of my land &Plantation to him and his signs and assigns forever. And I do utterly revoke all other wills made by me and do strengthen and confirm this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this day and year above written. Signed, sealed & delivered.......Schoolfield Parker published, pronounced..............John Truitt /s/ WILLIAM D DAVIS in the presence of .....................Rownd Givan his mark June 4, 1773 then came Schoolfield Parker and John Truitt, two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will and made oath on the holy evangels of Almighty God that they saw William Davis, the testator, sign, seal and heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament and that at the time of his so doing, he was to the best of their apprehensions of a sound disposing mind and memory and that they subscribed their names as witnesses to the said will in the presence of the testator and at his request and also that they saw Rownd Givin, the other subscribing witness sign his name as a witness to the said will in the presence of the testator and at his request.
