MD Prerogative Court 28, pp. 264-265 Edward Pointer, 14 February 1752 [MSA S538, MdHR 1306-1, 1-11-1-34]: "In the Name of God Amen I Edward Pointer of Worcester County in the province of Maryland being Sick and Weak of Body but of sound mind and perfect memory thanks be to the Almighty for the Same and Considering the uncertainty of this Life doth make Constitute and Ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in like manner and form following Viz: Item: I give unto my Daughter Rachel Steal the Wife of William Steal one Shilling sterling to be paid by my Executor hereafter named. Item I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Lowery's children one shilling Sterling to be paid by my Executor. Item I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved friend John Purnell Jun son of Tho. Purnell all my Right Title property or Interest which I now have or ought to have with all Improvements thereon in a track of land called Edwards Lott be the Same more or less to him the said John Purnell his heirs and assigns for ever and likewise I give and Bequeath to my aforesaid friend John Purnell all the Remainder part of my personal Estate to him his heirs and assigns for ever whom I Constitute and appoint to be my Executor of this my last will and Testament and revoking all other wills heretofore by me made In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 7th day of January 1951/2 Edward (His Mark) Pointer Signed Sealed and Acknowledged before us Tho. Robins Edmond (his mark) Mason John Purnell Elizth (her mark) Blizzard On the Back of the foregoing was thus written Viz: February ye 12th 1752 Came Thomas Robins John Purnell and Elizabeth Blizard three of the subscribing witnesses to the within Will and made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they Saw the Testator Edward Pointer sign seal and heard him publish pronounce and declare that the within Contained Writing was his last will and Testament and at the Time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of a sound disposing mind and memory and that they Subscribed their names as Witnesses to said will in the presence and at the Request of the Testator.
