Thirty miles N. of Auburn. First settled, 1786. The town derives its name from Elijah Livermore, one of the first settlers. Set off from Livermore and incorp. Mch. 20, 1843, having a village containing about 1000 inhabitants, called Livermore Falls Village. Population-1850, 890; 1860, 1029; 1870, 1004; 1880, 1080.
