[LWJ 31 May 1911] NICHOLAS/NICHOLS In a message dated 98-01-12 16:48:39 EST, you write: << Subj: Nichols Surname Date: 98-01-12 16:48:39 EST From: nicholst@UWSTOUT.EDU (TERRY NICHOLS) To: itigapa@AOL.COM ('itigapa@aol.com'), kking@tellink.net ('kking@tellink.net') David, I sent you Email some time ago, and I believe Carol LaRue did a search for me---this was back in October. I didn't feel I gave you enough info to go on, but now I have more to give you. At the time Carol gave me a results of Nickels. I was into the IGI at a FHC and found a William and Margaret Nichols of Lisbon, Androscoggin Cty. They had 10 kids between 1816 and 1833. My lineage I can trace to this family from me on back. I read in a book that the Lisbon area was about 1790 and approx. 450 people and in 1820 had 2200 people, but in 1840 was down to 1100 people. They were mainly in lumbering and when the trees ran out they migrated other places. You can see that these 10 children were born in that timeframe. Also, peoplr werer married in that county that were not from that county for some reason. Carol LaRue wanted me to tell her if Nickels was in my line. I want to thank Carol for her time spent the first search and my lineage goes back to William Nichols born in Lisbon, Androscoggin Cty on Feb. 2, 1831. I have a copy of his obit in the paper. He was buried in New Lisbon, Juneau Cty, Wis. His older brother, Thomas Nichols was born in Lisbon, Androscoggin Cty in June of 1828, he's buried in Mather, Juneau Cty, Wis. My main obstacle is William and Margaret Nichols, the parents. I have William and Margaret in son's, William Jr's residence in the 1860 Census of Juneau Cty, Wi. William Sr. was listed as age 75 and Margaret at 69 in that 1860 Census. The obit of William Nichols Jr. matched the birth record from the IGI exactly.I hope this will help, and help woul be appreciated. Thanks Again, Terry Nichols nicholst@uwstout.edu ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: Received: from relay06.mail.aol.com (relay06.mail.aol.com [172.31.109.6]) by air12.mail.aol.com (v37.8) with SMTP; Mon, 12 Jan 1998 16:48:39 1900 Received: from UWSTOUT.EDU (A1.AUXSER.UWSTOUT.EDU [144.13.18.1]) by relay06.mail.aol.com (8.8.5/8.8.5/AOL-4.0.0) with ESMTP id QAA26296 for ; Mon, 12 Jan 1998 16:47:29 -0500 (EST) Received: from C-3067 ([144.13.6.227]) by UWSTOUT.EDU (PMDF V5.1-7 #24366) with SMTP id <01ISAMF17JGW003BX1@UWSTOUT.EDU> for itigapa@aol.com; Mon, 12 Jan 1998 15:46:22 CST Received: by C-3067 with Microsoft Mail id <01BD1F72.1362D960@C-3067>; Mon, 12 Jan 1998 15:52:24 -0600 Date: Mon, 12 Jan 1998 12:53:51 -0600 From: TERRY NICHOLS Subject: Nichols Surname To: "'itigapa@aol.com'" , "'kking@tellink.net'" Message-id: <01BD1F72.1362D960@C-3067> MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable >> Subj: Re: William Nichols/b. 2 Feb. 1831 Date: 98-01-19 16:50:30 EST From: nicholst@UWSTOUT.EDU (TERRY NICHOLS) To: Itigapa@aol.com ('Itigapa@aol.com') David, I was stumped at William Nichols and Margaret Coffin.
