Was born at Turner, Androscoggin County, Me., Dec. 2, 1843. Was born and reared on a farm, and in former years was a teacher. He later practiced law. During the war he was a member of the 17th Maine Infantry. He held various town and school offices, and was Representative in the Maine Legislature in 1868.
