Greeley Cemetery Dexter, Maine County of Penobscot Contributed by Hartley West Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm The Greeley Cemetery is located in the town of Dexter Maine in the County of Penobscot. The earliest gravestone was 1811 the latest 1874. The cemetery is about the size of a large back yard. In speaking with a local funeral home director who also is the cemetery sexton for the town of Dexter said this was an older colonial cemetery and the cemetery was given a facelift a few years ago resetting the stone that had fallen. My inspection of the cemetery found it in excellent shape well groomed although it looks like there are many stones missing. To reach the cemetery in the center of town you go up Main Street Hill between the Post Office and Library. At the top of the hill turn left onto the Charleston Road and the cemetery will be on you left. The cemetery is triangle shape and looks like it is part of the back yard of two houses but is not. The Charleston Road and Maple Street border the cemetery. The transcription below are the stones that are there Hannah wife of W.S. Allen Died February 20, 1844 Charlotte widow of H. G.
