In a History of Sherman, Aroostook Co, Maine by Alfred Cushman, the first settler
of Sherman, Maine states the following of one John Cram.
John Cram came to Sherman, Maine in 1834, took up a wild lot of land.
He made a clearing, built a log house and stable, In 1836, he brought his wife
and son. Mr. Cram opened his house to the public. This public house was called the
CRAM House until the death of his wife. John Cram then sold to William Hunt who
built a new set of buildings. Mr. Hunt occupied them until his death a few
years later. William Hunt's widow died and her son, Otis, came into possession
of the public house. After Olis Hunt died, Ivan Hunt took over the place.
