Ashland, Aroostook Co., Maine bounds: 13 R5 WELS, Castle Hill, 11 R4 WELS,
Masardis, Garfield, & Nashville.
Previous designation ia 11 R5 and 12 R5 WELS. It was settled in 1835 &
incorportated on 18 Feb 1862 the 413th town. Name change to Dalton on
19 Feb 1869, Named changed to Ashland on 3 Feb 1876, Sheridan Plantation,
formerly Buchanan, annexed on 19 March 1901.
Ashland was settled about 1836, largely by people from Kennebec Valley.
