U.S. SENATOR FREDERICK HALE Senator Hale, the son of former Senator Eugene Hale and grandson of Senator Zachariah Chandler, was born in Detroit, Michigan, Oct. 7, 1874, his mother being Mary Chandler, daughter of the former Michigan senator. Senator Hale is a graduate of Harvard and for several years prior to his becoming a United States Senator practice law in Portland, Maine. Mem-ber of Governor Hill's staff 1901-1904; member Maine House of Represen-tative 1905-06; National Republican Committeeman 1912-18; United States Senator 1917 to date. Senator Hale is a member of the committee on naval affairs, also the committee on appropriations. Unmarried.
