Forty miles N. W. of Portland. Terminus of steamboat line from Sebago Lake station on P. & O. Railroad, also on stage-line from Norway to Bridgton, and on stage line from Bridgton to Waterford. Formed from parts of Otisfield and Bridgton, and incorporated 160th town, Mar. 8, 1805. Named in honor of Harrison Gray Otis, Esq., of Boston. First town meeting held in 1805 at house of Nephthali Harmon.
