THORNE Thomas is said to have built and inhabited lot # 18
three years and also to have taken up Lot # 23 this was
probably as early as 1740. These dates are derived from the
representation of Caleb Heath, the 1st agent of the
Pejepscot Proprietors. In 1747, he is said to have then paid
"for his lot in Topsham (ME , Sixteen pounds" He is at
another time stated to have a deed of lot 19 from Larrabee,
the agent who suceeded Heath, 13 May 1742. [History of

THURSTON Charles b 2 Feb 1836 at Danville ME d 1909. He was
employed as a young man by the Grand Trunk Railroad system.
On 19 Sep 1861. He enlisted as First Lieut in Co G Twenth-
third Maine Infantry Regt for nine months of the unit's
service they were assigned to guard duty in Maryland &
Virginia. On 15 Jul 1862 they were mustered out of service.
Mr Thurston returned to Danville & re enlisted the employ of
the railroad & worked as baggage master at Danville Jct. In
Dec 1890, he was appointed Postmaster of Danvillle, and for
19 yrs served the community in that capacity, operating a
small general store at the same time. As a Republican was
elected to the Auburn Common Council of 1879 and relected in
1880. He was one of the active sponsers of the Danville Jct
Parish (Now Danville Union Church). He married 1st at
Danville 31 Dec 1858, Lydia S Goss b 9 Jan 1834 d/o Thomas &
Sally (Jordan) Goss. After her death m(2) at So Paris, 3 June

members of the South Danville Methodist Church, and served in
many capacities in his parish. Moreover he was a good
businessman, and served the 5th Danville school district as
