Cumberland County, Maine - HEADSTONES IN THE FENDERSON FAMILY CEMETERY Scarborough, Maine Submitted by Owen Fenderson - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The cemetery is located on a wooded knoll just to the left of a gravel pit entrance due east of the cellar hole where the original farm once stood. When family members visited the site on August 8, 2000, a new house was being built a few yards west of the old cellar hole. Traveling west along Route 22, the road leading to the gravel pit and new house is on the left directly opposite the Deering Farm in Scarborough, ME, about a mile from Babb Corner. The cemetery is heavily overgrown by trees. In addition to the gravestones listed below, a number of erect, irregularly shaped stones with no inscriptions may mark graves. Other grave markers may be hidden under the turf. Several of the graves have footstones with initials. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FENDERSON Infant daughter of Nathaniel and Mary A.
