KINGFIELD.

Twenty-two miles N. of Farmington. Terminus of George N. Vose's stage-line from
Farmington to Kingfield and Eustis. Formerly No. 3, R. 1, Bingham's purchase.
Settled about 1806. Incorporated the 210th town, Jan. 24, 1816, and named in
honor of William King, first governor of Maine, and principal proprietor.
Population-1850, 662; 1860, 671; 1870, 560; 1880, 454. Valuation, 1860-Polls,
152; Estates, $99,451; 1870- Polls, 137; Estates, $110,910; 1880-Polls, 122;
Estates, $119,095.
