NEW VINEYARD.

Ten miles N. of Farmington. On stage-line to Kingfield. First settled, 1791, by
parties from Martha's Vineyard, Mass., among whom was Capt. Nathan Daggett, who
was chief pilot of the French fleet, commanded by Count D'estaing. Incor. Feb.
22, 1802. Population-1850, 635; 1860, 864; 1870, 755; 1880, 788. Valuation,
1860-Polls, 187; Estates, $143,387; 1870-Polls, 189; Estates, $228,812;
1880-Polls, 201; Estates, $202,867.
