EDEN.

Eleven miles S. S. E. of Ellsworth. On stage-line from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor.
Settled in 1763. Taken from north part of Mount Desert, and incorporated the
107th town, Feb. 23, 1796. Named for Edinburg, Scotland. Contains 22,000 acres.
Population-1850, 1127; 1860, 1247; 1870, 1195; 1880, 1629. Valuation,
1860-Polls, 250; Estates, $158,464; 1870- Polls, 290; Estates, $196,499;
