Twenty-one miles S. E. of Ellsworth. On shore stage-line. Incorporated Feb. 16,
1789, and named in honor of Robert Gould, one of the original proprietors. A
portion of No. 7, lying on "West Bay Stream," annexed Feb. 26, 1870.
