Incorp. the 59th town, Jan. 12,1789, and named in honor of Maj. Robert Sedgwick. In 1817, a part was cut off to form Brooksville, and in 1849, about twp-fifths of the remainder was taken to form Brooklin. Population-1850, 1235; 1860, 1263; 1870, 1113; 1880, 1128.
