Book Title: The Maine Historical Magazine, Vol. 8, 1894

John Staples, from Castine, settled on lot next to Thomas Thompson.  He was 
impressed on board a British man-of-war in the Revolutionary War and was never 
heard from.  Widow Mercy had his lot.  Many descendants.
(The first settlements were along Eggemoggin Reach.)
