Twenty-three miles N. N. E. of Augusta. First settled about 1775. Formerly part
of Clinton. Inc. Mar. 16, 1842, under the name of Sebasticook. Name changed,
1850. Population-1850, 1139; 1860, 1183; 1870, 1180; 1880, 1173. Valuation,
1860-Polls, 264; Estates, $175,526; 1870-Polls, 310; Estates, $248,123;
1880-Polls, 323; Estates, $376,601.
