Augusta, daily. Set off from Gardiner, and incorporated August 8, 1850. Portion
of Litchfield annexed, 1859. Population-1860, 1296; 1870, 1044; 1880, 977.
Valuation, 1860-Polls, 275; Estates, $298,496; 1870-Polls, 256; Estates,
$359,029; 1880-Polls, 261; Estates, $325,220.
